Eternal Spirit! Praise we bring— The wonders of Thy grace to sing; Thy pow'r conveys our blessings down From God the Father and the Son.
Enlightened by Thy heav'nly ray, Our shades and darkness turn to day; Thine inward teachings make us view Our danger and our refuge, too.
Thy pow'r and glory work within, And break the chains of reigning sin; Do our imperious lusts subdue, And form our wretched hearts anew.
The troubled conscience knows Thy voice, Thy cheering words our hearts rejoice; At Thy blest Word life's storms are calm, And troubled minds find heav'nly balm.
