Topics will include:
Homosexual marriage
The Government has announced it will consult on how to redefine marriage and impose a radical new version on society
so that homosexual couples can get married. At the same time, there are plans to allow same-sex couples to register civil partnerships in churches for the first time. We will explain the
implications and how Christians can respond.
Freedom of speech
The Government is consulting on removing ‘insulting’ words and behaviour from the scope of Section 5 of the Public Order Act.
Section 5 has been used by police to investigate Christians for speaking about their faith and for displaying Bible texts in public places. The House of Lords will consider amending Section 5 as it debates the Protection of Freedoms Bill. We will bring you the
latest news.
Religious liberty
There have been numerous cases recently where religious liberty has been under threat. We will talk about our Legal Defence Fund, including our work to protect a Christian foster carer deregistered because a Muslim girl in her care converted to Christianity; and
Christian guest house owners Peter & Hazelmary Bull who were fined for restricting their double rooms to married couples.
