"ORDER IN THE CHURCH" is a conference that will focus on the fact that Christ is the only Head of the Church. He has been made head over all things "for the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" (Ephesians. 1:22). He possesses "all authority in heaven and earth" (Matthew 29:18) and has chosen to exercise this authority through leaders in organized churches: elders, deacons and pastors.
How can anyone know what the Church ought to look like? Well, to an extent, the answer is found by what the Church was founded to be: "the pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15). It must be built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20), or it is not what it claims to be. "We believe the Church should be governed by that spiritual polity which out Lord taught us in His Word....By these means everything will be carried on in the Church in order and decency..." (Belgic Confession Art. 30).
Come and listen to learned, godly and faithful men who have shepherded Christ's Church for a combined total of over 120 years. Each of these men has an advanced degree, pastored local churches and served in various capacities in the organization of the Reformed Church in the United States (a denomination that held its 267th Annual Synod in May).
