“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a great presentation of not only the man and his writings, but the doctrine of sanctification whereby believers are made meet to partake of the inheritance of the saints in light for without holiness no one shall see the Lord.

Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.

You can quote me on that.

We need another John Knox to rise up in Scotland declaring, "Thus saith the Lord!"

Tis a sad day when bonnie Scotland embraces perversion and rejects the truth it once held to and paid for with the blood of the Covenantors.

“ Another Great Sermon! ”
Very good follow-up to part one. While I would not agree with every point made, I wholeheartedly agree with the overall message. In emphasizing the fact that Christians are under a New Covenant, the New Calvinists go far beyond what is allowed in Christian liberty. And as Chris Hand points out, separation from error is a forgotten doctrine. While I was aware of Piper's association with the blasphemous Mark Driscoll, I did not know that the likes of Todd Bentley and the NAR were also welcome. God help many to receive discernment and leave this dangerous movement. Thanks again for another important sermon on this topic!

“ Great Sermon! ”
AMEN & AMEN!!! As others have commented previously, this message is needed as much today as when it was first preached. The New Calvinists lack the fear of God found in the believers of old. Edwards, Spurgeon and Bunyan would be the first to speak out against this perversion of the Doctrines of Grace. Thank you, Chris Hand!

New Calvinism

“ Great Sermon! ”
I was involved with a Sovereign Grace Baptist Church whose pastor drifted toward preachers like Piper and Keller promoting their books and beliefs. It came to a point where I had to separate because to question this was not open to discussion. The more I thought about Keller and Piper the more troubled I was when I read what these men believe. And their association with Driscoll and defense of his blasphemous statements as immaturity convinced me that all three are false teachers. Mohler did it for me when I heard him promote the "gay gene" idea. These men and many others are leading many astray and are to be avoided. Thank you Brian McClung for speaking on this topic. Ps. As a side note I might also mention this church I left had also abandoned the AV/KJV for the NKJV and then later because of Piper went to the ESV. Sad,really sad! It was once a great church.

“ Possibly a Great Sermon! ”
Sounds like a great message, but the audio was so bad I couldn't stay with it. A real shame! Needs to be recorded again without the audio distortion. I'll have to find the transcript and read it instead.

According to C.H. Spurgeon, Growing a beard "is a habit most natural, scriptural, manly, and beneficial."

As far as tattoos go, I almost got one while in the Army, but I kept hearing my dad who once told me he regretted getting his which was simply some jump wings on his bicep. He was in the 11th Airborne Division. Years later when I read the passage in Leviticus, I was glad that I had not gotten one. They don't really enhance your appearance. Used to only motorcycle gangs and convicts wore tattoos and also sailors which goes back to the sailing ship era of sailors sporting tattoos they got in some south sea port on a Pacific island. I believe it, like piercings, is a pagan practice not to be emulated by Christian believers, but I would never condemn a believer who had them prior to conversion even though I would disuade one from starting the practice if they currently have none.

A Christian worldview I am curious that is.
Would it be so shocking for this article to be true? Uhhhh.... Hmmmmm.... No. Plainly it would be manifestly obviously not shocking st all
Danny,
As anyone who has read Jim's comments over the years knows, he has never criticized the reprobate impostor from Kenya about anything regardless of how reprehensible and dispicable his words and actions are. He constantly deflects criticism away from Barry by blaming Bush, or Trump, or someone or anything else. It's like the dog ate my homework excuse. It doesn't fly, but he repeats his links and comments over and over again to obfuscate and shift the focus off the crimes of this individual, the WORST president in American history! That is all Jim has ever done regarding Barack, so don't expect him to suddenly acknowledge what a scoundrel he is. Nine more days and good riddance!

“ Great Sermon! Highly Recommended!! ”
The best sermon I've ever heard on the evil of pornography and what Christ said about lustful looking, which is what pornography is all about. Should be listened to by men and women alike even if you don't think you have a problem in that area. Thanks, Pastor Jeff Pollard and Mt. Zion Bible Church for making this available and thanks for all those great tracts from Chapel Library and for the Free Grace Broadcaster! Soli Deo Gloria!!!

Actually, this New World Order stuff goes back to the League of Nations and Woodrow Wilson. This socialist scheme was futher facilitated by FDR and the Federal Reserve Act along with the creation of the UN after WWII. This push for a global government is supported by many politicians in both major parties here and abroad along with many in academia and the media who are members of such groups as the Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, Club of Rome, etc. etc. Trade treaties such as NAFTA, GATT, and the TPP are all designed to further the globalists' control over sovereign nations. That is why the Brexit vote and the election of Trump are so important in combating this evil. The lie of global warming is all about global governance ie. carbon taxes and the threat of prosecuting those who deny their "science falsely-called."

Jim,
Your repetitous comments and links about politics not being the answer only seem to apply when Christians are trying to stop evil. You never make the same application when talking about liberal godless socialism and the policies promoted by Democrats. And why you think abortion, the murder of children, is only a political issue just shows how twisted your thinking is. Abortion is a moral issue and a crime against God and humanity. There is no way you can dance around the issue and expect anyone but a baby-killing liberal to take you serious. As Michael Savage says, "Liberalism is a mental disorder." Of course, we're not talking about the biblical definition of liberalism which is generosity, we are talking about the popular use of the word which is Marxist-based atheistic socialism enforced by totalitarian measures. The worthless reprobate currently in the White House is just as Louise described and yet you have never criticized him once that I can recall. You have always deflected the issue in an attempt to obfuscate the truth of the matter. I hope, for your sake, you will repent of your defense of evil and stop with all your duplicitous comments.

ladybug,
This not the first time you and penned have had this discussion and it seems you are talking past each other. She was not attacking someone's affection or veneration of God. She didn't even use the word PIETY which you defended. She used the word PIETISM which is a different thing altogether. Pietism has been used by many besides penned to describe exactly what she was saying: an inward retreat from the world being only concerned with one's personal spiritual experience. Or, as others have said, being so spiritually minded that you are of no earthly good. PIETISM, not piety, is what led to the monasticism of Roman Catholicism as well as a dead formalism of many Protestant denominations. It's always good to have our meanings well defined and be on the same page in order to have a harmonious and fruitful discussion. I hope my comments are helpful. Soli Deo Gloria!!!

While public education is for the most part funded at the state level, it is disengenuous to suggest the federal government plays no part. The feds are a big promoter of Common Core. As Mike said, "getting rid of the Dept. of Education" is really the best solution. President Reagan wanted to do that, but was unable. Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government authorized to control education, but with a nanny state as we have now, socialist control of education means control of the population through the propagandizing of youth by government schools. The public education system run by powerful union interests is what has brought this country to the brink of destruction through the promotion of immorality and normalization of perversity. The rioters in the streets crying about the election results are exactly what the global socialists have produced with their education system hostile to Christianity and accepting of every deviant culture in existence. Of course, the media and popular culture reinforce this propaganda and so children are saturated with an anti-Christian worldview most of their waking hours unless their parents protect them from this social engineering through homeschooling or private schools and biblical teaching daily, not just on Sundays.

Jim,
Covenant Theology and Dispensationalism are not the only choices out there in interpreting Scripture. There are many who believe in the doctrines of grace who are neither covenant nor dispensational, but hold to a historical redemptive approach that some are now calling New Covenant Theology though I wouldn't necessarily embrace everyone in that camp which includes some of the so-called New Calvinists such as Driscoll, Piper and Keller whose abberant teachings and beliefs cause me to avoid those three altogether. A.W. Pink's writings referred to by narroway are particularly interesting since he was a dispensationalist before refuting it. I left Schofieldism in 1989 or 90.

PS. Jim, Besides his odd views on the zodiac, what nonsense of D. James Kennedy are you reffering to. I thought most of his preaching was biblical, convicting and no-nonsense.

It was a Gideon New Testament, not in a motel, but given to me by an Army Chaplain, that God used 11 years later to open my eyes. I wonder if the Gideons have other ways to distribute Bibles besides motels and the military, especially with atheist groups attacking any display of Christianity in the military and the fun-loving millennials disinterest in traditional Christianity. And, Jim, what about those fun-loving amillennials?

Jim,
I've watched enough PBS News Hour to know that Brooks is no conservative. Brooks and Shields rarely disagree on anything. Brooks, like most in the mainstream media, is just another elitist. His comment from the quote you cited proves it: " between us enlightened, college-educated tolerant people and the supposed primitive horde driven by dark fears and prejudices." The neo-cons always featured in the Establishment Media Cartel bear no resemblance to TRUE conservative constitutionalists. Enough of your liberal spin!
