This is what I see lacking.

Iron does sharpen iron, but not during a duel--that is when swords get dull; they get sharpened during a steady session of whetting.

Most of what I can see in the news comments is strife and dissension, sins decried by Paul and our Lord. Also see James 3. So I'm going to stop posting.

Know that I am praying for much more harmony, reconciliation, and unity on this website.

This is supposed to be a Christian site, right?
As someone else said somewhere on here, If an unbeliever were to stumble on this site and saw what went back and forth in the news comments, they would never give Christianity a second look.
That's sad.
(I don't mean to point any fingers; I'm just grieved at the state of things in general.)

In Christ,
River Jordan

So I'm going to apologize for my speech since you interpreted it in the way that you did.

I ask that y'all tone down the capitals and condemnation a bit. Only God knows the hearts of every man. We can't prove that anyone went to heaven or hell, except some of the people in th

Thank you for all the responses.
Especial thanks to Joe the Protestant who answered much more like Jesus would have, than you others.

IAE, I'm going to have to talk to my dad about this
before I listen to all of you, but again, thank you for the input.

Wte, I believe you are intentionally reading into others's comments too much, and presuming false information. Pull back on the reins a bit…

Does anyone have anything unbiased and unprejudiced to say about Westcott and Hort?
They were two amazing men that God used to translate another version of His Word. Who cares what version everyone uses? They are all God speaking to us through the original languages that have been translated into English so we can benefit from it.
Can anyone disagree with that??

Well then, just wondering, how do you explain The Pilgrim's Progress? [After the Bible, it is the most popular book, by any standard, in the history of the printing press.]

Forgive me if I misunderstood. But your comment surely could have been phrased much better if you really wanted to clearly convey a particular message that you intended others to understand easily.

it's not like God has done all that much for us,that we need to be stuck in church all day when we could be out there with the rest of the worldly people.I mean, come on,what's wrong with just going once a day for an hour, let's not get carried away with all this worshiping business.Especially when there's a super bowl on TV.
It's not like God came to earth, suffered and died for us and rose again the third day so we wouldn't have to go to hell.
It's the super bowl guys!
Some of you really need to repent. So very, very sad.
What a sarcastic, heretical comment.
1 Timothy 1:3-7 ~
"As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, be swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions."

I believe it says "Lord also of the sabbath." Meaning all days including the sabbath are his. Do you watch any tv at all?
My family threw away our TV and movies and video games early last year. Thanks for asking.

Should you be using the computer on the Sabbath???
I believe it is not a sin to use the computer on the Sabbath (aka the Lord's Day!).
And I posted today to manifest my opinion on this horrible sin that that is being committed right now in GOD'S HOUSE!!! as I prepared to go there this morning.
Does that satisfy you? Let me know.
(The obvious question: Why are you on the computer?)
John Yurich USA wrote:
You are being legalistic. If someone attends church on Sunday morning then why would they want to attend church on Sunday evening also? If someone attends church on Sunday morning then there is no reason why they can't watch television the rest of Sunday. And the Sabbath is not Sunday it is Saturday. Sunday is the Lord's Day.
The whole day belongs to the Lord. Look at Genesis 2:1-3. It is now the first day of the week because that was the day that our Savior rose, and we REMEMBER (4th Comm.) that and give thanks for it, every Sunday.

May 21, 2011,

I believe you are sincere in what you are saying,
but I also believe that you are sincerely wrong.

I am sorry that some of the other commenters aren't being a little nicer, but that is up for their conscience to decide.

You are all in my prayers,
River

The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. We have no right to watch TV at all on His Day. Also read Isaiah 41.

Who in their right mind would trade our loving, caring, sacrificing, merciful, gracious God for A SPORT.

This sickens me.

Anything that is not of God is of the devil. [YES, CV!!]
On a thread that discusses the release of the latest HP movie/book, is our Christian testimony so clear to others where we stand? You don't have to SAY that we can go see the movie, but could a non-Christian tell from this thread whether you think it's ok to see this movie?
Thotson: My parents threw away our TV earlier this year. It was the greatest thing they could ever have done for me in my teenhood besides bring me to Christ. I would be a TON less 'holy,' if they hadn't.

ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T DIRECTLY AND OPENLY GLORIFY GOD, ISN'T WORTH DOING.
1 Cor. 10:31 (ESV)~~So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Read Col 3:17 and 1 John 2:6, even in your KJV. Is HP furthering and growing ANYONE in their walk with God?!?! And even if it is, it's a waste of time, because John Bunyan (for example) is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more edifying than that.
How can you say that you are glorifying God at all in watching any movies!!!? Especially HP
