Jim Lincoln wrote: Were there Christians in the Anglican Church at its beginning and a few scattered throughout it's history, yes, but was it ever Christian, no. "He did so; delivered him to the secular power, who on the very same day led the blind boy (Thomas Drowry) to the place of execution at Gloucester, together with one Thomas Croker, a poor bricklayer, condemned also for the like testimony of the truth; when both, in one fire, most constantly and joyfully yielded their souls into the hands of the Lord Jesus." (scionofzion.com)Jim Thomas Drowry was a simple blind peasant boy who was burned at the stake for rejecting the Roman Catholic mass and its heresy. Thomas Croker again a simple bricklayer was burned for rejecting the Roman Catholic heresies. They, by the grace of God were Anglicans. Tell me Jim, have any of the IHCC members ever taken God's Holy Word to the point where they have given their life for it? Can you justify, before God, the statement which you declare, 'that you and your brothers are better than the Anglican's?' Where is the real struggle today? |

Neil wrote: You have a point there. I was assuming attendees were no more heedful of the duty to tithe than of other Scriptural injunctions, yet pastors tend to teach about tithing far more thoroughly than other subjects. I agree, Neil. It's interesting that pastors who hold to "Grace, grace, all is grace," and indulge the sins of the sinner because it's all been paid for at the cross, and holiness and righteousness will come sometime in the future - but, not now! For these pastors to call for obedience in moral issues is sheer blasphemy - those cursed works - trying to add to one's salvation! How dare they! These same pastors seem to fail to understand that that mindset correspondingly translates to one's giving of tithes and offerings. The faithful give in good times and bad. The unfaithful give out of surplus, and most of the time not in proportion to their assets. In times of tightening the belt, it would seem that the tithe would be the first to go. He who is faithful in little (that would include every area of life), will be faithful in much. |

Michael Hranek wrote: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved!" This prompts the better question - "Who is the believer?" Would those who hold to correct doctrine be the only ones saved? Or, would those who know only that a Saviour came to die for the sins of man, and the person who repents of his sins? Aren't we told that even the devils believe, but are not saved? So, rather than the division being doctrinally debated. Why wouldn't the better debate be - "Who is a Christian?" |
