found this Tozer story on the WWW:
"
I was preparing to go to Nyack College.
Before I left there was one burning question I had in mind,
and I went to Dr. Tozer and said,
Could you give me some advice concerning the problem of Calvinism versus Arminianism?

And I ll never forget the advice he gave me.
At the time I thought it was rather inconclusive and not too helpful.
But I listened carefully. He said, My son, when you get to college you're going to find
that all of the boys will be gathered in a room discussing and arguing over
Arminianism and Calvinism night after night after night. I ll tell you what to do, Cliff.
Go to your room and meet God.
At the end of four years you ll be way down the line and they'll still be where they started,
because greater minds than yours have wrestled with this problem
and have not come up with satisfactory conclusions.
Instead, learn to know God.

"

This advice works for the boycott concept: Learn to Know God: and you will avoid a bad example and evil communications-and retain good morals.

Good overview of Mather:a life of faith in early America: sets the stage for this type of Pastoral refusal to concede to evil.

I think the current sodomite flood is a lot like the demonic invasion that Mather fought:
here is start of series by Mather on his experience fighting devils in early America

Eph. 6:11,12
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

]]Basic Amish view of voting: 2 Kingdom

Only a small number of Amish cast ballots in presidential elections, perhaps 10-15%. Amish may be more likely to get involved when voting involves issues which directly affect them, such as zoning. Amish generally do not vote for a few reasons.

Why don’t most Amish participate in political elections?

For one, Amish follow a “Two Kingdoms” theology, which holds that there exist both a material and a spiritual kingdom. While respecting worldly governments, Amish feel that Christians should adhere to the laws of the spiritual kingdom above all.

I have never seen a quote from a church saying they are going to compromise to keep their treasured 5013c status.
1. Like your basic post but personal experience of open cowardice may depend on what part of the country you are in.

2.your personal experience differs from mine in that I have heard a number of pastors say aloud that they didn't want to risk their tax status by saying thus or so.
Though you may mean that they didn't put their cowardice into print-that I have not seen as often.
If that is what you mean, we have a similar dearth of published treason.

3. It is not that ALL 501C3 s don't take stands...but a state church is under the authority of the state, not the Lord Jesus Christ, so those who mouth off against their master the state are cruising for a bruising.
they'd do well to take your advice

1 Cor 10:28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: 10:29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: 10:33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

This sermon, preached at Freedom Baptist Church in Belleview before Bro. Adams was called to pastor the church, explains why converting the Body of Christ, the Church, into a tax-exempt, state-created and state-controlled corporation involves the exact same idolatrous sin as in taking the Mark of the Beast of Rev. 13 upon the churches.

Dan 3:13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king. 3:14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 3:15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 3:18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up...

Acts 4:17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. 4:18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. 4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Generations with Kevin Swanson is apropos this topic today.

Bill Gates’ father was on the board of Planned
Parenthood, and now the Bill Gates Foundation
continues the legacy of pushing abortions and
abortifacient contraceptives. But what about Warren
Buffet? The son of an arch-conservative, Christian
statesman, this billionaire went the other direction.
By funding his favorite causes, Warren Buffet has
contributed to 2.7 million abortions in ten years.
Kevin Swanson makes the point that there is a close
link between apostasy and the social and moral
disintegration of a nation.

Good balance:
two wings to truth

Mar 4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Do we need 2 ears to hear perfectly? yes: (with 1 ear you can't tell direction of sound easily)
Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches
One ear is good enough sometimes, though....

you don't really assume that the Lord Jesus Christ meant to include people(JWs) who say He is not the great I Am, or is injested as a cookie(RCC) when He spoke Mk 9...

you would never assume that

a charitable take would be to assume that one could unintentionally take His words out of context and apply them past the context into people who do not fit the context :I don't think you meant to.

"And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. " Mk 9:42

I'd say the context for what Jesus was talking about is those who believe on Him.

1Cor13:4-7 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Ps15:1-5 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

good thing the guy that held the coats for the stoning repented later on.

“That there is a Devil, is a thing doubted by none but such as are under the influences of the Devil.”
? Cotton Mather, On Witchcraft

As soon as ever I can, I will make my children apprehensive of the main end for which they are to live; that so they may as soon as may be, begin to live; and their youth not be nothing but vanity. I will show them, that their main end must be, to, acknowledge the great God, and His glorious Christ; and bring others to acknowledge Him: and that they are never wise nor well, but when they are doing so. I will make them able to answer the grand question of why they live; and what is the end of the actions that fill their lives? I will teach them that their Creator and Redeemer is to be obeyed in everything, and everything is to be done in obedience to Him. I will teach them how even their diversions, and their ornaments, and the tasks of their education, must all be to fit them for the further service of Him to whom I have devoted them; and how in these also, His commandments must be the rule of all they do.
Even Fallen Dads can give good advice:
and set examples of what NOT to do!
