Great Sermon! Thankyou so much for this study on the 4th commandment. You have certainly clarified a lot of the questions I have raised with other Christians about this and unfortunately they were not able to answer with any depth. I always felt guilty of working on a Sunday but I’m so thankful that I have a mon -Fri job now so I can praise and worship the Lord with others. |

Great Sermon! Justin, using your analogy of the doctor leaving the medicine on the porch: would the doctor be a "bully" if instead he went inside the house and gave the medicine to his patient, ensuring it was truly taken and in the right amount, the patient was improving, etc? Remember, some patients are too sick to take a pill.
Then why call the Lord a "bully" for rescuing sinners from a far, far greater peril, an eternal one? The fact is that Jesus Christ is a Savior, a Rescuer. He truly rescues, not theoretically but actually. He doesnt just leave His salvation "on the porch," as it were. He goes in and rescues the ones who are dead in trespasses and sins and (get this) unable to save themselves, unable to take the medicine. And God does not just make us well, He "made us alive"! Eph 2:5 He has chosen His people from eternity past. See Romans 8:29-30 foreknown, predestined, called, justified, glorified |

Great Sermon! One thing I would bring up, not in a spirit disagreement, but my husband left me after the birth of our first daughter. I owned a successful business in Cali and didn't need him financially or otherwise. He resented our infant daughter and all the attention she required. So I became the everything, father and mother to my child. I have to say I did very well. I provided for my daughter extremely well, spent time with her, taught her right from wrong. If men would grow up and be good fathers and husbands women wouldn't have been forced to become the be-alls to our children. And within that atmosphere I wouldn't have EVER let a man tell me what to do. Why would I? I got where I got by myself and God. No man did anything for me but drag me down. So that's the flip side of things for you. And PS my husband who has been a California Deputy all his life after the Navy, after he was shot and almost killed in the line of duty, he saw how life can end in a second, and he decided he wanted to be the father his absentee father never was. But if men continue to put the burden of their families on women, women are only going to get stronger and when they see their lives are better without all the crap men cause, this will never stop. So be fair about this. |
