Benjamin wrote: But some reasons are for textual criticism issues. We are constantly finding new papyri and are being able to learn more about God’s word. So there are updates. When will it end? Are we to be at the mercy of so-called scholarship and people digging stuff up in the dirt forever? What a weariness. Is God's word never to be settled? It took a long time for me to grow up and quit playing scholar. What I found was that being obsessed with the original and version differences was a way to keep God at bay. I grew a lot when I came to rest on the KJV. And I got no help from reformed pastors playing scholar. God had to deliver me from the hidden neo-orthdoxy of our day. Is the KJV perfect? I will say this, it is good enough to get me to glory. It is a good starting point. And God is honored that I believe in His providential preservation, and I believe in His Church and the job it did on this great work. The KJV is a believers Bible. |

Dear Mr. Jim Lincoln, What kind of a man loves to be a stinker, a hold back, a pain, to group of believers? What are you doing here? Give it a rest for awhile, and think it over. NAS Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. |

John D. wrote: For those of you who consider the KJV to be special or better or whatever, how did you reach that conclusion? Good question! Most KJVO people seem to only muddy the water. This is an important issue! Don't give up on looking into it untill you understand the real issues! For me this small book was of great help: English Bible Translations, by What Standard? by William O. Einwechter. It may be hard to find. The Trinitarian Bible Society seems good as well. I hope the best for you! |

My story on the NIV, ESV and KJV:I was in great confusion years ago in regard to a Bible version. I spent all my time in Bibleworks comparing versions because they all seem to swerve at some point. At the time I was using mainly the NASB. I was into Piper when he went to the ESV in 2002 (?). I had such great hopes! I jumped in and got two leather bound units for my wife and myself. We used it, and read though it twice in two years. During this time we were driven crazy by the ESV. It is so poorly done it is hard to believe. I found myself spending even more time in Bibleworks looking and comparing. What a time burner! What a wake up call when a brother challenged me on it! God used this to shake me up bad. What is Piper thinking? What is going on? I still don’t get it. Well God brought us home to the KJV after much pain. Shame on those Reformed pastors that poisoned our minds to the KJV early on in our faith (they promoted the use the ASV 1901). Away with all the confusion and subtle attacks on God’s word! God have mercy. I wonder if the NIV is better than the ESV, it seems to hang together better. The NIV is fluff to be sure, but at least it does not pretend to be some great thing: has anyone read the preface of the ESV? It is pure pretense. How wicked! |

Phil the Pharsee wrote: This man should be put away from All human contact. He not only Sinned, he did worse, he embarrased the rest of us with his failure. He should never be forgiven under any circumstances. No one who fails should Ever be forgiven. . Does not one have to repent to be restored?Does this look like repentance to you? I know it does not look like repentance to the world because it is news. It would do many hearts good if he would just cool his jets and take the back seat. His was a public fall, and the Name of our Lord was put through the mud in a big way; does that not upset you a little? |

Thanks Jim,Oh I do love it when people use Latin! You seem to be posessed with a insanabile cacoethes scribendi. But to be sure Dispensationalism is anicularum lucubrationes. Of course it is also true that astra non mentiuntur, sed astrologi bene mentiuntur de astris. But bene, cum Latine nescias, nolo manus meas in te maculare. |
