As far as all the criticism on the Harry Potter series, I personally think it's ridiculous, but that's just if you ask me. The series wasn't designed in some sort of way to tell people to, I don't know, get in touch with the inner witch or wizard in them. From what I've observed it has obviously been 100% fictional from the outset, and the readers ought to be aware of that, so I believe that anyone who took it as a inspiration to look in to Wicca has completely misunderstood what the book was about. I read all of the series, and I thought they were fantastic. And get this; the #1 theme of the series, the main thing it undoubtedly emphasized far beyond any "magical spell or curse" was in fact love. Now I'm pretty sure that the author isn't Christian, because she did say something about one of the characters that was definitely anti-biblical and totally unnecessary after the series was over. But, I'm going to take a shot in the dark and speculate, and I believe my speculation is based on Scripture. I find it interesting that a non-Christian acknowledges love enough to put it on a pedestal like that. I'm guessing it could have something to do with Romans 2:14,15 and 3:19,20. |
