What has suffered is the sense of authority in the Bible because there is no single agreed-upon translation or version of Holy Scripture as the English-speaking Protestant Church once all read, preached, and memorized the same Bible--the Authorized Version. What has also suffered is Scripture memorization because of the multiplicity of "Bibles" and the fear that today's translation may soon be superseded by tomorrow's "new" rendition. The King James Version ought to be our "base translation" for home, church, and school--in pulpit and pew.
Since I am a Reformed paedobaptist and paedocommunionist, I would say the whole covenant family belongs together in formal, public, liturgical worship. Covenant children need to be taught and trained to sit still in church and to participate meaningfully in worship. Having Supper with Jesus at His Table in His House every Lord's Day to remember His atoning death for our sins is very, very important.
