The Arminian Way.

Cont....

John 10:
27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."

29. As for Jesus words about the Father giving these people to Him, well that appears not to be the whole truth of the matter. The Father being a nice sort of guy may try to give them to Jesus, - BUT we must remember that this is only within the constraints of their accepting the Father’s RSVP.

As for Jesus describing the Father as “…greater than all…” Well again we would find the freewiller to argue that point, in that He is certainly not completely sovereign when it comes to decisions about who gets in to heaven. Thus the Arminian is slightly greater than “his god” at the point of entry unto salvation.

So the record of these verses are perhaps somewhat ambiguous and presumptuous for the sinners powerful Free Will. In accordance with the Arminian doctrines.

Love from Scotland.

The Arminian Way.
As depicted by JD, Yamil etc...

Now one of the problems we have here is the Arminian/FW view of these verses.
Their Statement would disagree with Jesus, and they would say, quote;

27. “My sheep might hear my voice, BUT not necessarily agree with me. So they may or may not follow me.
28. I might want to give them eternal life, – but again it really depends on their acceptance of my offer. As to whether they perish or not, this is entirely dependent on their own “Free Will” which they choose to exercise. Thus if they chose salvation – then they live. Alternatively if they don’t choose the right solution to the question they get zapped to hell.

As for any man plucking them out of my hand, the most likely candidate for this action would be themselves, – since these Arminians are not convinced that God alone can keep them all the way to salvation. So again maybe it might not entirely work out for them.

Michael in Endicott
I agree Michael we should try to remove the False Teaching of Arminianism from the Churches.

However Satan is a very difficult adversary to overcome.

And don't forget what Jesus taught about the enemies "plant" in the congregations.

Matt 13:25 "But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way"

Matt 13:30 "Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

Sometimes you antichrist fans seem to get so desperate about justifying your religious worldly enterprise.
Isaiah 22:20ff....
20 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:
21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder"

Now GG a Little exegesis for you.
Eliakim is the guy involved, here seen "prefiguring the kingdom of Christ."
Now I thought your Pope came from Peter.? Are you changing the Dogma this year.?

Col 1:18/Eph 1:22 States Christ is the ONLY Head of the Church.
But since you lot are into heresy - you can pick anybody.
Matt 23:8/9 confirms this.

2Thes 2:3-9 Shows the emergence of the Papal antichrist.

Happy to be of help GG.

"...the pope is the temporal/earthly head, representing Christ.
I would not hesitate to kneel and kiss his hand..."

NOWHERE in Scripture is this heretical theory of an earthly head stated or indeed required. This is a direct attack upon the Holy Spirit and a fallacy practised by heretics.

This worship of the antichrist, (handkissing) is pure idolatry, but of course is all we can expect from those who know not the truth or the way in Christ.

Like Arminianism it is man made religion and not Biblical.

Searcher of Truth.
Definition of "AntiNomianism"(Heresy).
"a person who maintains that Christians are freed from the moral law by virtue of grace as set forth in the gospel."

2] "Antinomianism is from the Greek [anti] meaning opposed to, and [nomos] meaning Law. In Theological terms it denotes those who oppose God's law. Theologians generally hold that there are two types of Antinomians. "Explicit" Antinomians are obvious reprobates who disregard the laws of God, and "implicit" Antinomians are professed Christians who falsely construe that they have New-Testament "liberty" from the law of God. That is to say, because they believe they are saved by Grace and not works, they surmise that it doesn't matter how they live in transgression of laws."

The Law is Still binding.
But "In Christ" - do we keep it to the satisfaction of God. (Justification)
The Law is only fulfilled In Christ.

Rom 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."

Rom 7:14 "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

Rom 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death"

"If the law binds the Christian then is not the Christian morally obligated to perfectly obey the law?"

In the 5th century there was a monk called Pelagius.
He argued that humans could "morally obey the Law of God," - Because the Scripture talked of, doing this and not doing that.

He was branded a heretic, and justly so.

The point is that no one can obey the Law. If you could then you would be perfect. And you wouldn't need Jesus.

Rom 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one"

Sadly this is No Surprise to the Christian.
With the current decline in the teaching/preaching of sound Biblical Doctrine, we can see that commensurate with this in western nations, societies morals go down the tube.

After all why should God bless nations who reject Him.?
All the authorities of God as taught in Scripture, are being opposed by these evil Sodom-like nations.

The Westminster Confession is laid out, page by page, quoting Bible verses in support of every doctrinal statement it covers.
This is true of the confession and the catechism.

All True Protestant Presbyterian Churches in Scotland list the Westminster as part of their Standards.

It is of course a great pity that Liberal churches, such as the Kirk, don't adhere to it. If they did perhaps they might have remained a "real" church.

Westminster Confession

5. Westminster Confession
Ch. 19
1. "God gave to Adam a law, as a covenant of works, by which He bound him and all his posterity to personal, entire, exact, and perpetual obedience; promised life upon the fulfilling, and threatened death upon the breach of it: and endued him with power and ability to keep it.

2. This law, after his fall, continued to be a perfect rule of righteousness, and, as such, was delivered by God upon Mount Sinai, in ten commandments, and written in two tables: the four first commandments containing our duty towards God; and the other six our duty to man.

3. Beside this law, commonly called moral, God was pleased to give to the people of Israel, as a church under age, ceremonial laws, containing several typical ordinances, partly of worship, prefiguring Christ, His graces, actions, sufferings, and benefits; and partly holding forth divers instructions of moral duties. All which ceremonial laws are now abrogated, under the new testament."

As far as God and Jesus are concerned they are still binding.
"Christian" - means follower of Christ ergo they are binding to ALL His True followers.

Mike - Is a small metal object, even precious metal/jewel encrusted object, made specifically to be worn, an "image" of the cross.?

On question # 1
See:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_cross

2] Iconolatry.? Certainly, like any "image" it could be. I know that all imagery was attacked during Reformation times, but I don't know about the Cross in that specific respect. Also there are some who apparently see the cross as a "charm" to wear for whatever reason. I would say that the "crucifix" is a graven image, like many icons in the popish church.
Personally I don't wear a cross, I see no reason to do so, nor any Biblical instruction to do so.

Michael of Endicott
Cont.....

Our task as Christians is to be a witness of the better way in Christ.
A negative Photo has both light and dark to complete the picture. This world, as you are aware, is also light and dark from a spiritual point of view.

Therefore we can't be shocked that a sovereign and omnipotent loving God, allows all that happens around us.

The Christian heart is mortified by the events of today, (and history), as Lot was vexed by the terrible state of Sodom and Gomorrah, we are as Christians vexed also by our society.

Look at the Plea in Psalm 67 -
1. "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
2. THAT THY WAY MAY BE KNOWN upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
3. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee."

A prayer for God's will to be done around us if ever there was. So that God may be praised. Amen to that.

But it also highlights the state of the world under sin and Satan.
And that God's way is only in a Remnant in families, communities, towns, cities and nations.
This is God's Creation.!!
