Seed Sower “Is not Jesus talking of a decision of the heart?”

My response “Christ is the one that soweth the good seed and Satan is the one that soweth the tares. There is no decision of the heart here.”

Is it the decision of the heart when it is Christ who sows the good seed and Satan sows the tares?

Seed Sower “The point in question is whether or not a person can freely receive the Spirit if they accept Christ. The point you are defending is that you cannot receive the Spirit to understand the scriptures unless you are the elect.”

My point is we need to be born-again of the Spirit before we will hear and understand the Gospel to believe and repent. Can an unregenerate man with a stony heart hear, understand, believe and repent.

Eze 36:26-27
(26) A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
(27) And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

"As JD is saying where does it say that there is two different groups of unsaved people( the ones who will be elected and the ones who won't)."

The Bible says it, the sheep and the goats, the wheat and the tares etc.

Mat 13:37-39
(37) He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
(38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
(39) The enemy that sowed them is the devil…

Jesus is not talking about a decision of the heart as unregenerate man has a stony heart until he is regenerated by the Holy Spirit and given a heart of flesh.
“This heart of flesh, is a new and right heart, and spirit; an heart to fear God, to love him, and to trust in him; in which Christ dwells by faith;”

Christ is the one that soweth the good seed and Satan is the one that soweth the tares. There is no decision of the heart here.

(38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
(39) The enemy that sowed them is the devil…

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Seed Sower “Take one last example, in the parable of the sower and the seed in Matt 13, Mark 4. Christ tells us of the different types of soil related to our hearts. If we are already predetermined or elect, then what does this parable prophet? Is not Jesus talking of a decision of the heart? In Mark 4:20 it says they such has hear the word, and RECEIVE IT. God has given the ability of faith to all, and our is determined on how our hearts receive the word.”

Christ tells us “His sheep hear His voice and follow Him.” It is Christ who opens the understanding of the Scriptures.

Luk 24:44-45
(44) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
(45) Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures,

We receive the Spirit of God while the gospel is preached, the Holy Spirit falls on them that hear it, conveys himself into their hearts and they are born again by the word of truth.

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

(Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

(Joh 10:27) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

God gives life to whom He will and they will repent and believe the Gospel.

(2Ti 2:25) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; ****if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;****

Catechism of the Catholic Church

"605 - At the end of the parable of the lost sheep Jesus recalled that God's love excludes no one: "So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish."410 He affirms that he came "to give his life as a ransom for many"; this last term is not restrictive, but contrasts the whole of humanity with the unique person of the redeemer who hands himself over to save us.411 The Church, following the apostles, teaches that Christ died for all men without exception: "There is not, never has been, and never will be a single human being for whom Christ did not suffer."412"

"Jesus Died for All, Not Many:
Schismatics Falling into Calvinist Heresy"

"When we actually read what the Popes write, they affirm this Council of Trent teaching. He did not shed his blood only for many, but all. We have the Bible teach unambiguously teach that Jesus shed his blood for all (1 John 2:2, others). For anybody to say that they follow the Council of Trent, they must believe that he shed his blood for all. All the Popes before, and all the Popes prior, affirm this teaching. Was the Council of Trent infected with modernism? No. It is indeed impious (according to many popes) to state, that Christ did not shed his blood for all. Thus, when the Mass that we celebrate declares that his blood has been shed for all, it is indeed not heresy, but reflects a long held truth. To say that Jesus did not die for all, is heretical and different from what the Bible and the infallible magisterium teaches. If one teaches limited atonement, one joins forces with the Calvinist, and Jansenist heretics long ago condemned by the Catholic Church. Those who follow this teaching cannot even pretend to be faithful Catholics."

Once again I did not make the comment below.

"Simple answer to Yamil:
NO. All truth cames from the Reformation and only the Reformation. Calvin was a perfect man even though he murdered anyone that would stand in his way.
You here me son! You here me!
Don'nt make me woop out my cut-and-paste technique. I will flood you with so much irrelevant comments you will not know what to do with yourself.

"The Western Church was very strict in the use of Latin not only for the Bible, but also for the ritual worship of the Church, which was incomprehensible to the people. It should be noted that before the Reformation there was no complete translation of the Bible in English. The only translation in English from the Latin and not the original Greek language, covering only the New Testament and some parts of the Old, was that attributed to John Wycliffe of England. Despite the fact it was made with the knowledge of the authorities of the Church, its use was forbidden without special permission, according to the decision of the Synod of Oxford of 1407. The first translation of the Bible into English from the original languages, Hebrew and Greek, and the first which was printed was that of William Tyndale in c.1523. Before this translation the only printings of the Bible were the Vulgate (first printing, 1456)"

Yamil said “So the church did not have the Bible until the Reformation?”

"The translation of the Bible into the English language coincided with the invention of the printing press and the period of Reformation (15th -16th centuries). Before this time the use of Bible in the West was forbidden in any language other than Latin. The Latin translation, from the original Hebrew and Greek, was made by St. Jerome in the fourth century. It became the authoritative Bible for the Western Church and was 'known as the Vulgate. The reading of the Bible, even in the Latin, was forbidden the lay people without permission. This denial by the authorities of the Western Church was one of the main reasons for the Protestant Reformation. Therefore, the first act of the first reformer, Martin Luther, was the translation of the Bible into German in 1522, which translation was the main factor in the establishment of the German language. Before the Reformation and the printing press, various parts of the Bible had been translated into English from the Latin Vulgate."

The Reformation was truly from God and I for one thank Him for it.

"From 590 to 1517, the Roman Church dominated the western world. The Roman
Catholic Church controlled religion, philosophy, morals, politics, art and education. This was the dark ages for true Christianity. The vital doctrines of Biblical Christianity had almost disappeared, and with the neglect of true doctrine came the passing of life and light that constitutes the worship of the One True God as declared in Christ."

Salvation by Works

The Reformation gave a Biblical understanding of the office of a ministerBefore the Reformation, the concept of the Christian ministry was sacerdotal. That is – it was understood that every clergyman was a sacrificing priest. The clergy were understood to hold the keys of Heaven and to be practically the mediators between God and man. The Reformers brought the office of the clergy down to its Scriptural level. They stripped it entirely of any sacerdotal character. They cast out the words “sacrifice” and “altar”. They taught that the clergy were pastors, ambassadors, messangers, witnesses, evangelists, teachers and ministers of the Word and sacraments. The Reformers taught that the chief business of every Christian minister is to preach the Word and to be diligent in prayer and the reading of the Scriptures. The Reformers taught the immense superiority of the pulpit to the confessional. For this reason, where the altar used to be, the Lord’s table was placed with an open Bible, or a pulpit, showing the centrality of God’s Word in the worship of Protestant churches.
