Out of the prophets bro, not out of the blue. What the prophets spoke are the witness, not my thoughts. Rev 17:1 I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: Jer 51:13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness. Rev 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. Jer 51:7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. |

Thanks for that wonderful find MS and that great observation Bro Lurker. Its hard to ignore the idea that a widow spoken from Isaiah would have nothing to do with a widow in the revelation in which both are said to say the same thing in their heart. Rev 18:7 for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Isa 47:8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, Its even harder to ignore also the mention of the merchants being hers within the same context of both texts. Rev 18:23 for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. Isa 47:15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: |

Unprofitable Servant wrote: I read all the references in context in Revelation and did not find anything that would allow it to be a parallel with references to a whore in the Okd Testament. No mention in Revelation of marriage or being a wife (a mother but nothing about a spouse). I'm open for correction and appreciate your observation Bro US. But here's the thing. 2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. The Revelation had yet to be penned when those words were written with Peter's hand, but I haven't found a reason why the book of Revelation should be the exception. The only way to ward off private interpretations from what I can see is treat it as an integral part of the organic whole of the bible as opposed to a stand alone book. Furthermore, interpreting the Revelation in the light of OT and NT citations , eliminates guess work that comes from reaching out post 96 AD in secular history for anything that may seem to fit. So by reaching back into Scripture to define the mysterious figures of the Revelation rather that reaching forward with guesses, we are then guided by the only reliable source given by God. Excellent reference Sister MS. |

John Lee wrote: In other words, you are embarrassed to simply declare your interpretation of what the prophets said. John, Embarrassed? That's just your perception John and a strange one at that. If you can't understand what I am saying simply ask for clarification without the insults. Reread my post and look for these words. ***So many references to Judah becoming a harlot*** A few more references if it will help. Jeremiah 31:32 (KJV) 32  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: Ezek 16:38  And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.  God is jealous of His holy name (Ezek 39:25) and this ties back to the song of Moses: Deut 32:21  They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. The prophets are pretty specific. |

John Lee wrote: The question is, "Who here is the 'great whore' and what is your reason for believing what you believe?" Hi John, I hope all is well with you and I appreciate the question. The short and sweet answer is I simply follow the prophets and believe what they say on the matter. Isaiah 1:21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. So many references to Judah becoming a harlot and yet mystery Babylon is Rome. Pity. In addition to that, Its simply not possible to make an argument of a time when righteousness lodged in the RC nor was there ever a time where the RC was known as a faithful city. Great analogy sister LB. |

Interesting thoughts, but The RC didn't create but only carried on the very same Faith plus works which is The trouble with the RC being the great whore. The prophecies speak to the whoredoms long before the RC was a thought and furthermore, NEVER was God's wife. Ezek 16:30-32 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things,* the work of an imperious whorish woman*; In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire; But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband! Jeremiah 3:9 And it came to pass through the lightness of *her whoredom*, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. Jeremiah 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with *their fathers* in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although *I was an husband unto them*, saith the LORD: Ezek 16:38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. From these texts, who is it that God says He would judge as women that break w |

Frank wrote: What would be the political agenda in a poll like this? Bro, I think the agenda would be to continue to place a false picture of reality of what "all of America" looks like into the minds of those who Love God and\or hold to conservative values. Polls have deteriorated from their original purpose of being a measuring stick to simply being a tool easily manipulated to create a false narrative. Yes, the culture is secular and has been there for longer than we care to admit, but small towns still operate quite differently than the likes of NYC where I'd guess this useless poll was taken. The ten commandments are still in view in the court houses and billboards through all the small towns I travel and are filled with people who fly the Trump flag under the american flag in their front yard. The only Biden sign I saw in the past month also had a for sale sign beside it in the yard. |
