Aw well Michael, as you stated before, you do not agree with total depravity meaning inability to respond to God and I stated I believe in the Total depravity of man and that is why you believe the way you do and why I believe the way I do.

“The doctrines of total depravity and spiritual inability are foundational to one’s understanding of the nature of Christ’s redemptive work”.

“Total depravity means not only that all people are sinners, that sin has affected the entire life of all human beings, and that human beings cannot save themselves; it means also that, because human beings are spiritually dead, they are unable to respond to the gospel with repentance and faith; they must therefore be regenerated before they can repent and have faith in Christ.”

Mike “ I pray you will think about this a bit more.
Think about your response as well, and how it continues the riddle you deny.”

I thank you for your concern but it really isn’t a riddle to me. I am convinced of what I have stated is truly Scriptual and if it is not then I pray the Lord will show me the errors of my ways.

Michael "your insistance in being born again before faith makes whatever kind of faith and repentance you have quite suspect"

If my faith and repentance is suspect please tell me what differs in your faith and repentance and mine?

Mike "This is the unanswerable riddle caused when we believe regeneration precedes faith."

It may be all a riddle to you but it isn't to me.

Michael "You all (5 Point TULIPism not New "Arminianism") seem to be lacking in the preaching of repentance and faith and your insistance in being born again before faith makes whatever kind of faith and repentance you have quite suspect"

How so? I don't understand the point you are trying to make.

You said "You might notice that absolute absence of "How can they believe unless they are regenerated (born again-before faith)"

The Gospel must be preached, this is the means God uses to save His people.

Mike "So from the time you were regenerated until the time you believed, you were a born-again unbeliever. Do you not understand why a theology that teaches this is in Scriptural error?"

No, I do not understand why a theology that teaches this is in error because you assume there was much time between being regenerated and believing whereas I believe they happen almost at the same time although regeneration is first. At the call of the Gospel, the "Holy Spirit convinces us of our sin and misery, renews our wills, enlightens our minds in the knowledge of Christ" we then believe and repent.

"...regeneration is the work of God, changing the heart of man by his sovereign will, while conversion is that act of man turning towards God with the new inclination thus given to his heart."

Michael “Why do you insist on having such a different kind of salvation, essentially one without repentance and one where new birth occurs before faith, before receiving Jesus Christ?”

You misrepresent me, I believed and repented of my sin because the Holy Spirit regenerated me and gave me a new nature and freed my will that I could believe in Christ and repent of my sins and that He shed His blood to blot out my sins and clothed me in His Righteousness.

Psa 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Michael

According to the verses from Scripture I posted, do they state that we are totally dead in trespasses and sin, deaf, blind,in prison, have hearts that are deceitfully wicked, that our natures are only accustomed to do evil, that we do not seek after God, do no good, do not understand, we are not righteous and are born shapen in iniquity?

Is this not total depravity?

Michael “So you claim "Total Inablity".

I claimed Total depravity in other words what sin did to man at the fall which in turn makes man totally unable.

Rom 3:10-12 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (11) There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. (12) They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Jer 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Isa 42:7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Psa 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

MBL "PS: Of course everyone knows that both the Lord's statement and the Lord's statment through Luke are true - because Barnabas was indwelt by God the Holy Spirit."

Thats right, why didn't you say that before instead of attacking Arthur.

BTW, I didn’t ask what is sin but what did sin do to us at the fall.

Michael “I do not agree with Total Depravity meaning total inability to respond to God.”

And I believe in Total depravity.

That is why you believe the way you do and why I believe the way I do!

What is your belief on sin as you never stated it in your points? In other words are we totally depraved, or partially depraved? What is man's state from the Fall?

A little scripture for you:

Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

A common trait of all Arminians:

They know not the scriptures nor the power of God!

Michael,

How did the jailer know about salvation to ask what must I do to be saved?

Act 16:30
(30) And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Michael “…even that He loves the whole world and doesn't desire for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

God states that what His soul desireth He doeth, so if He desires as you say that none should perish but that all should come to repentance then not a single soul, past, present or future will perish and all (everyone without exception) will come to repentance because what He desires He does.

Job 23:13
But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

JD “Identify 'them'!”

John 12:34 identifies ‘them’ as the people.

Joh 12:34
(34) The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth forever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

JD "why were they blinded according to the context"

I have already shown you from Scripture why they were blinded.

JD ”You have not dealt with the 'nevertheless' of John 12!”

Joh 12:42
(42) Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

God always has His remnant, the elect Jews some being many of the chief rulers, believed on Him whereas the rest of the Jews were blinded.

JD
I asked "So according to the Scriptures was the Father drawing all, every single one of the Jews to Jesus as the Messiah of Israel or was He drawing the elect Jews of Israel and blinding the rest?"

JD answered “Yes, every single one and they were blinded because they would not come.”

Your answer does not line up with Scripture, the Bible says they COULD NOT believe because God had blinded their eyes and hardened their heart therefore they could not come to Him.

Joh 12:39-40
(39) Therefore they COULD NOT believe, ****because that Isaiah said again,
(40) He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.****
