MacArthur does hold this view, as to do many others. Observer, I agree with your statement to a point. We should not and cannot let liberals and atheists alike try and discredit the value and inspiration of God's word. However Mark 16 has been a disputed text not just by MacArthur and White, but textual critics whom trace manuscript evidence. Although most manuscripts do have this portion of Scripture, our most reliable manuscripts do not. Moreover I fully affirm the inspiration, authority, and sufficiency of Scripture. We must keep in mind however that God inspired the original authors therefore the original manuscripts. We do not claim to have a holy book dropped down from heaven as the Muslims or Mormons do. The Bible is reliable and we can trust that we do indeed have the word of God in our possession, but we also cannot hide or conceal the fact that some texts are indeed disputed. That is no way discounts the truthfulness or integrity of God or Scripture. Hiding true textual variants simply gives the enemy ammunition to attack the average Christians ignorance....
Oh boy.... it is appalling to me that 500 million people worldwide buy into the charasmatic chaos. The miraculous spiritual gifts ceased after the Apostolic age. Acts is a descriptive book, not prescriptive. And 1 Corinthians 12-14 have been responded to and refuted by so many sounds biblical teachers all you need to do is look at the text in its natural, plain reading. Mark 16, specifically the longer ending of Mark, is a highly disputed text anyhow and many textual critics see it as not being written by Mark at all. Because of this we should refrain from using this section of Scripture for doctrine. Look up, A Case For Ceasationism by Tom Pennington if you want to hear a great sermon on the subject. Biblical illiteracy = charasmatic chaos and wrong doctrine.
Yeah Dr. Tim and perhaps brothers in Christ will treat one another with respect and dignity, instead of with malice and pointed sarcasm. Nahhhhhn that'll never happen, everyone knows if a fellow brother in Christ doesn't believe exactly what I believe (which is of course, orthodox) then they CANNOT be saved. O ye commenters on SermonAudio lol 😂
Interesting discussion! Is the debates with Brown on the spiritual gifts available on Sermon Audio? Would love to listen to it. Interesting discussion and a lot of food for thought. I truly agree with Dr White's views on consistency and orthodoxy, just a bit confused on how Sola Scriptura and prophecy/revelations from God can coexist... I know how Brown explained it but it if God is speaking directly to someone and what the individual claims is said matches up wth Scripture, I don't see how that personal revelation would not be just as authoritative as Scripture. If God is speaking, it's authoritative. I don't see anyway around that and therefore anyway to reconsile Sola Scripture and receiving personal revelations.
Sad for us, wonderful for him. He is in Heaven. Prayers for his family, especially his wife Vesta for the mourning to come. A true defender of the Gospel, he will be missed.
Facebook + sinful humans = platform to flaunt sin I like JCalvin's idea, simply delete Facebook and the problem is solved. Well one problem I suppose 😉
Political nonsense as usual. God is still on throne, and our president was appointed by God for His own good purposes and will. Lets not create a political Christianity where Christians align themselves with the Republican Party. News flash: Republican DOES NOT = Christian.... I know that is truly a shock 😂
Thank you Dr White!!! Thank you Dr White for having the courage and conviction to stand against all the false accusations brought by those clearly misrepresenting you in a willful act of ignorance. Those who seek the truth will clearly find that Dr White is consistent in his purpose for apologetics and deliberate in his expounding of the gospel in every debate or discussion I have ever heard him do. God bless you Dr White and Alpha and Omega Ministries for your ministry and love for people!
Best regards from San Tan Valley!
God bless the men who preached and the people that made this conference possible! Thank you SermonAudio for all you do to make sermons, debates and more easily accessible! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
SteverR; I agree completely!!! I have found that to be all too true in the church I grew up in. The true spiritually gifted teachers felt it beneath them to teach a VBS class therefore someone that doesn't have he gift of teaching is forced to step up and the VBS program as a whole suffers because of this. Sad but true.
Wow some harsh words for VBS... something that I notice with every negative comment about this program however is this; the presupposition that 1. the VBS teachers and leaders within each individual congregation are not giving children the true gospel and therefore it is more less a free childcare, and 2. all the children involved in VBS come from an unchurched family. My response would be this, would we concede that some of the teachers could knowledgeable in the Scriptures and truly be giving these children the true gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? And, aren't those children the come from a Bible believing "churched" home allowed to have fun and learn more about Christ as well? I don't deny that it can be more bad than good for kids, perhaps even most of the time, but is that due to the program as a whole or each individual congregation and the importance they place on the holy infallible inerrant word of God??? Idk 😊
Great Sermon! Amazing debate! I am thankful for Dr. White's respectful yet firm analysis of the difference between RCC and Protestantism, in this case being Marian Dogma's as defined by RCC. Moreover, his emphasis on ALWAYS presenting the gospel and evangelizing, shows his true heart commitment to see individual come to Christ via the gospel. Thank you Dr. White and Alpha & Omega Ministries for your relentless defense of the Truth!
-Much love in Christ, your brother Chase.
I'm sorry is this supposed to be a shock? Isn't this simply describing the "sexual revolution" America has been going through??? I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a "Christian nation" just individual believers that make up a society, however individuals in our society need Christ now as much as they ever did. Lukewarm Christians who go along with the culture of death, feminism, gender neutrality, gay rights and all the rest are simply apostates. It is time for true believers in our Lord Jesus Christ to put on Christ and take a stand against our culture. We must find the delicate balance between respecting and honoring civil authorities while at the same time having God as our ultimate authority and NEVER compromise on truth's we know to be true. Praying for wisdom, strength and faith from our God for believers in America and throughout the world!
