Jim Lincoln, Please stop with the “reliable sources” mantra when, for an example, you highlight an Op-Ed. Which is short for an OPINION Editorial. An opinion is subjective...or better defined....BIAS.
Dr. Tim, I noticed that as well. Jim, why can’t he just be a racist without the color descriptor? As if white people are only racists. Towing the Leftist line once again.
Watcher, I do not get into “who’s in who’s out” discussions, they are fruitless and doesn’t edify. My point is specific to this article and its subject...the funeral of Billy Graham as it relates to the preoccupation and rehashed arguments against his theology. He’s dead, let him go.
Watcher, Sanctimony is hypocritical devoutness. Zeal can be corrupted and have an air of “holiness”, but ends up as unneeded and unedifying rancor. After a while, the forums turn into this I believe.
Watcher, Sanctimony is sinful as well. Error is error, lies are lies...no matter the source. There is such a thing as “time and place”. If the subject of a forum is theological veracity, post zealously as you can in favor or against a matter. When it comes to articles of burial/death and the like, keep to the topic with proper demeanor.
Kev, No disagreement to be had here. Billy Graham has been thoroughly critiqued and theologically ostracized on here ad nauseum when alive. Can’t that stop when he’s being buried?
Kev and IE, There has been heresy throughout the ages. Whatever BG was espousing, that was error, was already happening. Malcolm Muggeridge stated accurately: “New news is old news happening to new people.”
The point is, there have two article forums in which BG was most thoroughly disputed, dismantled, and delegitimized. He’s gone, let the rancor go as well.
Quiet Christian, That is spot on. We are saved and being sanctified in this life. I appreciate the refocus on Christ. It is He who is True, Holy, and Righteous. We are recipients, not the cause, of those attributes. Praise God in Christ!
“As Christians we want to be the forgivers of sin, the lovers of men, New incarnations of Christ, saviors rather than saved; secure in our own possession of the true religion, rather than dependent on a Lord who possesses us, chooses us, forgives us.”
