Some questions are very difficult to answer because they come from a false premise. Are we to suppose that all the will of God is explicitly stated in his Word? I have already answered where the Scripture proofs are for what I have stated that I believe to be true to the Word of God concerning the ceremonial law. If you do not believe me I cannot force you. It is very difficult also to argue the decreetive and preceptive will of God in this forum. Certainly we pray that God's Kingdom Come and that his will would be done here on earth as it is in heaven. I do have a lawful calling and I need to be diligent in it and so I was not free to go on answering your questions. I think all are agreed that Sodomy is an abomination to God. That is very explicit in his Word, though many would argue against it. If we indeed read and meditate upon Romans 1 I think we would all agree with Erik that sodomy is a sin which develops from atheism, which is widely tolerated in the world despite the fact that we claim Christ is our King. For Unprofitable Servant (as all of God's children)Again from the Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 19, Of the Law of God: III. Besides this law, commonly called moral, God was pleased to give to the people of Israel, as a church under age, ceremonial laws, containing several typical ordinances, partly of worship, prefiguring Christ, His graces, actions, sufferings, and benefits; and partly, holding forth divers instructions of moral duties. All which ceremonial laws are now abrogated, under the New Testament. Scripture Proofs cited: Hebrews 10:1; Galatians 4:1-3; Colossians 2:17; 1 Corinthians 5:7; 2 Corinthians 6:17; 2 Corinthians 6:17; Jude 23; Colossians 2:14-17; Daniel 9:27; Ephesians 2:15-16 |

What do ye think of this? From the Westminster Confession of Faith (which independents later borrowed and manipulated and called the Savoy Declaration) Of Religious Worship, and the Sabbath Day I. The light of nature shows that there is a God, who has lordship and sovereignty over all, is good, and does good unto all, and is therefore to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart, and with all the soul, and with all the might. But the acceptable way of worshipping the true God is instituted by Himself, and so limited by His own revealed will, that He may not be worshipped according to the imaginations and devices of men, or the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representation, or any other way not prescribed in the holy Scripture. Scripture Verses Cited: Romans 1:20; Acts 17:24; Psalm 119:68; Jeremiah 10:7; Psalm 31:23; Psalm 18:3; Romans 10:12; Psalm 62:8; Joshua 24:14; Mark 12:33 Laziness is not acceptable...read the Scripture... From John Calvin, 1543, at the Diet of the Empire at Spire before Emperor Charles V:Then while those who preside in the Church ought to excel others, and shine by the example of a holier life, how well do those who hold the office in the present day correspond in this respect to their vocation! At a time when the corruption of the world is at its height, there is no order more addicted to all kinds of wickedness...their turpitude stands exposed to the eyes of all — exposed their insatiable avarice and rapacity — exposed their intolerable pride and cruelty. The noise of indecent revelry and dancing, the rage of gaming, and entertainments, abounding in all kinds of intemperance, are in their houses only ordinary occurrences... To pass over other things in silence, what impunity in that celibacy which of itself they regard as a title to esteem! I feel ashamed to unveil enormities which I had much rather suppress, if they could be corrected by silence. Nor will I divulge what is done in secret. The pollutions which openly appear are more than sufficient. How many priests, pray, are free from whoredom? Nay, how many of their houses are infamous for daily acts of lewdness? How many honorable families do they defile by their vagabond lusts? |

This is nothing new...It happened in Great Britain in the second reformation where the British government "anglicized" Christianity even through persecution and death. This is called Erastianism. Many martyrs died to uphold Christ's Kingship. From Donald Cargill: "I come now to tell you for what I am brought here to die, and to give you an account of my faith, which I shall do as in the sight of the living God before whom I am shortly to stand. "First, I declare I am a Christian, a Protestant, a Presbyterian in my judgment; and whatever hath been said of me, I die testifying against Popery, Prelacy, Erastianism, and all manner of defection from the truth of God, and against all who make not the Scriptures, which are the Word of God, their rule, that so they may commend Christ and His way to strangers by a holy and Gospel conversation. "The cause for which I am sentenced to die here this day, is my disowning of authority inthe unlawful exercise thereof, when they, instead of ruling for God, are fighting against Him, and encroaching upon His prerogatives, by that woful supremacy which my soul abhors, and which I have testified against since I was apprehended; and now again I disown all supremacy over the consciences of men and liberties of Christ's Church." |

The Government recognizes no authority higher than its own will. Here is its profession—'This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land.'... "God’s Word, if it has any place, must take a subordinate one; yet even that is denied. It is granted no place at all. The Legislator may leave it at home; it has no authority in Congress. The Judge on the Bench may close it; it has no legal bearing on the question. The Jury do not need it on retiring; give them the statute laws under the Constitution, that is sufficient. The Officer in discharge of official duty has nothing whatever to do with—'Thus saith the Lord,' only—'Thus saith the people.' "Two Police Commissioners, a few days ago, in the City of New York, dissenting from the action of the Board permitting the parade of the Communists on the Sabbath, gave as a reason that the 'Sabbath was of Divine origin.' The Communists reply that 'there is no Constitutional restriction.' The Police Commissioners had consulted the wrong authority. As officers, they should have been reading the Constitution, not the Bible..." Rev. JH Boggs, New York, 1872 |
