Or fallen nature.
Incisive post, Scott.

One question determines what God you believe in. It
has always been the only distinguishing characteristic.
'What think ye of Christ?'
These 'percentages' imply that there are more than two categories of people in the world.

There are many qualifying factors concerning 'critical' remarks of our leaders that would make 2 Peter inapplicable here, Jessica Dawson; but your point is well taken, and John Y can respond without sobriety at times.
Your bearing is lovely and your heart is sweet; and wisdom borne of love is much needed... the little sister that big brothers will always stand up for.

A little rough around the edges, Mark M., but I gotta go with you on your post.

Yes, Pastor.
The same solution (without retraction) that was imposed upon those of us who read the bible; by the grace of God, now unenforceable.

My point has not been perceived, much less understood... forgive me, gentlemen; for wasting your valuable time.

I meant the complete contrast of the meaning; not merely the words.

Thanks anyway.

This should be interesting. I read many, many of the comments on this article. Several on sandy ground.
Pray for the brethren.

'In this case Jesus was wrong: the meek did not inherit the earth'.

This statement reminds me of the woman atheist who went on record, saying, "The bible is wrong. It says,'Raise up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.' Well, I raised up my child in the way I thought he should go; and when he got old, he went away from the way I taught him".

1st: in an absolute sense, anything God does is a miracle.

2nd: a lamentation for poor Mr. Barker. His faith was dependent on his sight.

I'm not sure what all of this has to do with the complete destruction of the real meaning of the verse, chapter, and concept, by the intrusion and subtraction of words to support a preconceived eschatology.

I guess I was merely trying to unveil the incredible blessings and consolation that this verse provides, which all of those other versions rob it of.

Perhaps another time; another place.

Contrast Isaiah 65:20 in the KJV to virtually all other
versions (sadly, including the NJKV). Words have been added and subtracted in order to support a preconceived eschatology. Not only has the meaning of the verse been negated, but that of the entire chapter; and drawn out, that of a major concept of the entire word of God.
Though I do not read the KJV only, I do love the majesty of the language, and many times I have found it to be truer to the word of God in its totality.
Included in the many versions that I do read are the
RSV and the NJKV.

Reformation Fact, Contending for; why do you even concern yourself with such statements?
Persons who do not know the tenets of Calvinism will neither understand nor agree with what you find amiable in them. It must be given to them to see.

What an incredibly uplifting article.
The same to be said of your quote from Professor Murray, Geneva. As I have his Collected Writings, as well as the Institutes, this is a joyful encouragement to jump back into them. Thanks.

First of all, Mr. Cornelius; a relationship with Jesus is not yours to give, merely to offer.
Secondly, I must wonder; with this kind of mindset, what sort of Jesus will you be offering?

So far, I have been unable to find one other person who heard the address by Mr. Mandela, to a very sizable audience in New York, upon his first day of freedom.
During this address, he was questioned concerning his association with Fidel Castro, Yassir Arafat, and Moammar Kadafi; 'known murderers of men, women and children'.
His response was that he was unconcerned about those things; his only concern was that they helped him in his cause.
I and my black girlfriend were quite taken aback by
his answer.
Anyone else catch that?

At what age does a child begin thinking that he/she can get away with a crime?
The age should be when that 'child' can be convinced
that what he/she did was wrong.
The problem is, we are becoming a nation that is increasingly repulsed by the thought of punishment for crime.

Two immediate and very basic problems with the American people: the instant that they hear a benign term concerning anything, they begin to gush and coo before they understand its application; and they assume that everyone (even, or perhaps especially those in office) believes in the American way of governing.

The mentality of the believer to all who reason like Jenkins should be 1st Corinthians 2:14-16. Take care lest we step out of the kingdom to debate the 'children of this age', in order to justify God.

Presented correctly, even a secular argument could be made to these poor (but not very bright) children that they could not but agree with, concerning the 'offensive' passages in the bible. Pray that their Christian counterparts take charge.
