If I did not make sense it is likely because you are on the defense instead of reading what I said with a mind to understand what I am putting forth. Please reread it before you respond to this post. Read it from the bottom up (in order of the times posted).

You seem to be making the same error in your defense of Obama that he himself makes defending his pastor. There is a major difference between having a grandmother who is racist and having a pastor who is racist (or at least obnoxious and judgmental). You can not choose the one, but you can choose the other. If I was going to a church that only had one black person attending and he was the doorman, I would first inquire about the situation and if not satisfactory, I would leave, shaking the dust off my shoes.

A Hispanic or Native cannot change his ethnicity, but he can change his church. When there is no church, then he can start one. You asked, I answered. I will not tolerate racism no matter what color!

Today while it seems African-Americans are oblivious to what has been happening in Sudan, Christians are actually buying slaves, taking them back home and trying to help restart their lives. One ministry has spent over a million dollars just to buy slaves. Other ministries are rescuing forced prostitutes and sex-slaves. Ministries such as Teen Challenge are involved with life controlling issues such as addictions; they even have job training in some centers. Churches were the first responders in the wake of Katrina. My church has been reaching out to the local housing projects and getting involved with Teen Reach, a government sponsored initiative to save kids at risk. I have been involved in such outreaches since I got serious with God.

Where is the African-American church helping the Sudanese that are being slaughtered and sold as slaves today? What is the African-American church doing to rescue forced prostitutes and sex-slaves today? Better yet, why is it that the African-American church is still licking its wounds instead of initiating God’s call to act upon injustices such as the above? Why isn’t the African-American church crying out against abortion considering that 2 out of 3 abortions are black babies?

We all have a lot of work to do, bickering is not one of them

where was the White church when Black people were ...lynched and hanged in this Country...?"
where was the White church when Blacks could not eat at the same restaurant...? where was the White church when Blacks could not vote? -etc.
Wayne, this is what I was referring to. These are inconsequential to the ethical considerations behind whether or not to vote for Obama.

I am not dismissing the atrocities committed by and to Europeans, Africans, Asians, Natives, etc. We all can probably put together a list. While this does not excuse evil whatever ethnicity it may find itself clothed in, neither is it limited it to the plight of the black man. I am not insinuating that the black plight is irrelevant, but it certainly is not isolated. What I was taking issue with was your accusations directed toward me and others who refuse to support Obama. Well, his cultural background is of no consequence to me. I am not afraid of a black president; I think that it would be a delightful day.

For me and millions of other Christians, heroism takes form in men such as abolitionist William Wilberforce, not the KKK.

If you want to play the Joker card, that's your business, but when you want to accuse me of trumping up a racist card, well let me just say I don't have time for silly games.

Let me ask you one question to think about, maybe it will help jog your memory as to one of my previous posts, why not support Alan Keyes if you want an honest African-American in the white house?

I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to check out your video, but the people of France elected the most US friendly prime minister in a while and on the heals of the invasion, at the peak of controversy.

...And yes, Australia also supported the invasion, whether reluctantly or not I do not know. Nevertheless GWB did not act alone and his sources were of a wide spectrum. I do not pretend to know whether or not the invasion was the wisest thing. I do think that in the wake of 9/11 the US was ready to do anything-even pray. Imagine that!

Wayne,

While the trend for both Republicans and Democrats is lining their own pocket books your presumptions are totally off base. Living in Illinois I can honestly say that I regret not having voted for the Democratic governor contender that ran against George Ryan in 1998. He is the reason why we have been stuck with Blagojevich for two terms. Nevertheless, there has only been one single politician whose sign I have actually stuck in my front yard, it was Obama’s contender – Alan Keys.

Bottom line, if you want to support pro-abortionist Obama, that is your prerogative, but don’t patronize me about Bush being corrupt with your obvious personal biases. It is on record that the Clintons have been the most investigated family in America. But even this does not let Obama off the hook. Slowly America is waking up to his spell and recognizing his spins for what they are, empty rhetoric with false hope with just the right amount of poison to kill another million babies, not to mention the economy.

Hopefully when it is all said and done, Christian brothers will not assume the worse of each other and presume that America is something that it is not.

While I confer with your mention of Jesus first, your overgeneralizations are something of an idiosyncrasy considering you point your finger at America while embracing Australia which in fact supported the invasion of Iraq by lending its troops.

It is interesting how on a prior post you seem to be defending Obama. Meanwhile you are listing abortion as one of your deadly sins. I am from Illinois and I know Obama's abortion record (http://www.ontheissues.org/Barack_Obama.htm). While Bush may not have eradicated abortion, he certainly has limited it. You speak of racism?

GWB did not decide to oust Hussein independently, nor has it been demonstrated that he lied, either knowingly or unknowingly. Who knows whether or not there were actual WMDs? The CIA and MI6 should be held to blame if that is your working criteria (that the invasion was based on deception). In addition the news networks such as AOL that carried the alleged surveillance videos showing the semi trailers leaving the Iraqi compounds as the UN weapons inspectors went in should also be held accountable for inciting Americans. The congress, including Democrats and Republicans voted for the war, with the exception of a very few such as Dennis Kucinich. Bill Clinton even sent a PR spokesperson to Ohio State to get feedback from America in regards to invading Iraq. I would have to say that this invasion has been well in the works and a long time coming, it was a bipartisan effort. Anything else is just a political smokescreen for political clout. This all goes without saying that Hussein was playing a dangerous game if his bragging about nukes was just a bluff to hold Iran at bay. Meanwhile it certainly does not excuse his responsibility of genocide and aiding terrorism.

McCain did oppose the invasion. If General Powell is credible would you vote for McCain if he is to be his VP?

I am familiar with Rev. Wright and his ministry, and while I am probably not on the same wave as he is theologically speaking, I would not classify him a racist.
Thank you for your insightful post. I also understand that Huckabee has publicly announced that Wright’s words should not necessarily be taken seriously. Isn’t it true however that major avenues toward ethnic reconciliation have been advanced? Promise Keepers comes to mind and other reconciliatory services such as the one in Tenn with the Assemblies of God and the Church of God in Christ with their foot-washing ceremony. Do black people really thing that the secular society is going to bend over backwards in reconciliation? To these people who have not even been reconciled to God, Affirmative Action and anti-racial profiling should be enough.

I do wonder however if Obama should be let off so easy. I understand that Oprah Winfrey actually left the same church specifically because of Wright’s open ethnic hostility. It would seem that Obama was using the church as a political tool.

I would like for you to demonstrate your accusation of G.W. Bush not being a man of character. One may disagree with his ideology, but I think his character stands through.

This only reveals how ignorant you are of the US military. No criminal or homicidal act is excused and dismissed. Your argument sounds as pathetic as the pink angels. US soldiers are expected to follow the laws of appropriate conduct; anything to the contrary is inexcusable period!

Good luck in your anti-war campaign. Next time square your facts.

'Believers are happier than atheists'

Some atheists recognize this as reality. They maintain that the most realistic outlook should be far more pessimistic. I find the militant atheist syndrome to be quite the anomaly. In their attempts to eliminate faith the only thing that they have to replace it with is the nihilism that is inherent to it. Let us pray that they will come to know the author of life.

JP, I'm fine; glad to be of service. I fished around that website you mentioned some weeks ago but couldn't find the debates you referred to. Anyhow, I have to mind my time on extended debates, whether debating Christians or atheists.

www.trinitylectures.org/MP3_downloads.php

You are right in the necessary time it takes to engage in these debates. I am surprised however that you had trouble finding the debates on Christian Post.

Thanks for the link. I think I downloaded some of those lectures before, but never finished them.
