telling us that people who write "Merry X-mas" were going to hell.
The letter "X" in Xmas is from the Greek letter "X" which sounds "Chi" and is like the way the Scots say - the end of the word "loch".
Greek "X" then stands for Xristos = Christ. In Greek = Χριστοσ.

Merry Xmas to one and all.

I pray the True Spirit of the advent of of God Incarnate, Jesus the Son of God, the Christ who walked among us, shall bless you all and your family and neighbours today and every day.

"Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."

"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."

AMEN!

Sermon:
The Potter and the Clay
George Whitefield
1
comment
“ Great Insight! ”
The Lord is the Potter. We are nought but the clay. The clay vessel is marred thus not fit for purpose. The purpose for which God the Potter made us. All children of Adam are thus marred and must be renewed in Christ. Made in God's image - now marred. A message which teaches the very and absolute need we have of Christ.

Recently I have experienced a long delay after clicking on to a selected sermon, before getting to the sermon web page to play it.
This does not happen when I select other sites of yours, eg news items.
Any thoughts?

“ Important Message! ”
Quote; "We need efforts - Not to earn points for heaven, but to demonstrate we are in the Spirit." Marvellous truths Gordon. Thankyou for that. We need help all the time from and by the Holy Spirit. Keep praying hard!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Another good practical message on Unconditional Election. Dr. Griswold brings salt and light to the subject. Connecting the Lord's Sovereignty here to Election of course provides an essential background to God's Election by grace alone.

“ Great Sermon! ”
An excellent exposition of the Biblical doctrine of Unconditional Election. Dr. Griswold has a good grasp of the election process of God and how the Lord alone enacts this grace upon the elect In Christ. Thankyou SWRB for providing this sermon which has so much practical value in understanding a controversial subject today.

“ Great Truths ”
The historic colusion between the Arminian doctrine with the Papists is stated here. The common element of freeing the sinners will to believe he is saved by his own volition, links the two heresies. Curious that Depravity is the very source of their disease, - Yet they will not perceive it in themselves.

Yet another good message from Dr. Palmer Robertson. Here he illustrates the, the all to present, error of the Dispensationalist in perceiving Scripture teaching.

“ Excellent Covenant Teaching ”
The Covenants of God are one! Because Christ is one and fulfils all the promises of God. Dr. Palmer Robertson raises questions, as well as answers many. These are good material for meditation on Scripture, eg: engrafting of the non-Israelite into Covenant relationship and how these relate to NT doctrine. Thankyou Dr. Palmer Robertson for a very interesting teaching on a very important subject, in our dealing with our relationship with God, Christ and the Holy Spirit.

“ Sound Doctrine ”
Rev Schwertley states, "Simply put, there is not one shred of evidence that can be found in the Bible to support the pretribulation rapture." It is great to see and hear the polemic against this Rapture myth, which has become all too prevalent in the churches today. Excellent work.

“ Great Sermon! ”
A timely reminder of our calling to suffering as Christians here on earth. There are of course many ways in which we as believers will suffer in this world of sin, personal, family, physical or mental pain etc. But we are called to suffer as the Bible teaches and we are in common with many brothers and sisters today in our journey of pain. Thankyou Rich Johnston for this message which I can empathise with today. God be with us in our calling.

A message well sent Rev. Murray.
Would that Gordon Brown could "hear" the truth thus preached, we might look to a better future. But even now he proves his anti-Christ standing.
Rom 13 - If God establishes authority above us then the current government and sword, is a punishment upon the British people. The true witness is repudiated in favour of abomination and a church that would sanctify sin. The evil seed of Liberalism from the modern church, is cross bred with society at large. Scripture authority has been robbed from this nation and this grieves the Spirit. Those who can see observe that God has rescinded His good authority from all our institutions.
Rev. Murray if it was only worth it, I would implore you to send a trancript of your sermon to 10 Downing Street. But they are blind who will not see.
Thankyou dear brother, keep up the ministry. God be with you.

""King "wanted to develop an intellectually respectable form of Christianity that did not require people to simply abandon their rational, critical abilities," Carson said. The essential truth King saw, according to Carson, was the social gospel -- "to see the Bible as a message of spiritual redemption and global social justice.""

MLK sounds like another Jesse Jackson Liberal.

The modern antichrist religion is Liberalism and it preaches the Social Gospel.

To remove people away from God's Law and Holy Scripture, - all Satan has to do is increase social injustice.

Religion then becomes saving the flesh instead of saving the soul.

Matt 6:31 "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

"The Archbishop of Canterbury is planning to use the site to broadcast his sermons in an attempt to make the Church more relevant to the internet generation."

"...make the church more relevant...."??????????

How mind numbingly peurile can these poor fools become.

It's very clear that the Lord has rejected and rebuked the C of E as an instrument. Sure and certain is his prophecy in Scripture, that they shall be deluded and believe the lie, when they reject the Word of God, as they have done in their Liberal creature worship.

Of course the seed planted in previous times of Arminian/Freewillism has brought them to this futile pass.
As it will do to the other denominations who take this path.

Lurker
stated
"I have not, do not, study the writings of men to establish my doctrinal beliefs, nor do I study theological systems. I do not have a portfolio of prepared doctrines to rely on."

Nor do the Calvinists establish our beliefs from men.
Nor do the Calvinists study a "theological system"
Nor do the Calvinists have a specific portfolio of doctrines to rely upon.

The Lord stated His Word is forever.

That the Reformed/Calvinist should arrive at the same Biblical and doctrinal statement and testimony as many others in history, should be of NO surprise to anyone.

Mine came from the Scriptures by grace and the Holy Spirit.
I'm sure that John Calvin would say exactly the same thing.

Years after becoming a Christian and only listening to the Minister and reading the Bible, - I began to read theology and saw that I agreed with the Reformed/Calvinist position.

The Lord brought me here.! - Not Calvin.
Praise the Lord.

DB
This is a synopsis of the 5 points (Remonstrance) of Arminianism.

"According to Arminianism:

Salvation is accomplished through the combined efforts of God (who takes the initiative) and man (who must respond) - man's response being the determining factor. God has provided salvation for everyone, but His provision becomes effective only for those who, of their own free will, "choose" to cooperate with Him and accept His offer of grace. At the crucial point, man's will plays a decisive role; thus man, not God, determines who will be recipients of the gift of salvation."

Thus God's Sovereignty over His Creation (Potter and Clay), is usurped by this essentially humanistic reasoning.

Discerned Believer
Said
"Do you guys even know what you believe and why you believe what you believe?"

DB The simple Truth is this.
The Word of God does NOT change every time you humanistic philosophers come up with some obscure new theory like the Dispy Junk from the 19th century.

The Non-Reformed, (eg. Arminian, Antinomian, Roman Popery... etc), reject Sovereignty in God, thereby reducing the term "God" to a lesser, - closer to creature level - god, whilst inventing their way through Scripture.

Therefore the Reformed Doctrine is Biblical Scriptural Truth and Fact.
We don't need to re-invent the wheel like you guys do. We don't need to fix it because it ain't broken.

Reformed Theology has remained the same since God wrote the Book on it.

It's you guys who continue to rewrite scripture according to your human theories, introducing the essentially human aspect into divine purposes, eg salvation.

The Reformers didn't need to change it; - And neither do Real Christians today. It's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
