Tim, what causes you to 'trust in Jesus', and are you really trusting in HIS WORK ALONE for your redemption?
Do you understand the work of a Potter? "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?" Do you deny God the sovereign right to elect some unto salvation, and others vessels of wrath fitted for destruction?
Yes, He saves His elect, not a random people,not 'whosoever', but His elect. There are many who profess Jesus, then add something to that, like works, free will, etc, "Lord, Lord, didn't we {fill in the blank with your own works}.
"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy" is the word of the Lord. Salvation is of the Lord, all He elects do believe. Nowhere do I 'bar' people from heaven, rather, I expose your hidden arminianism, your misuse of His truth, your denial of His sovereignty in saving or not saving. You hate the fact that God has made vessels of wrath fitted for destruction, you deny that and accuse me of 'barring' people from heaven, when in fact, it is GOD who bars them, by His sovereign choice. Tim, there are tons of verses that speak of election, Matt. 1:21 for example, 'He shall save 'HIS PEOPLE' from their sins'. Or this from Eph. 1:4, "just as He chose us in Him *before the foundation of the world* for us to be holy and blameless before Him". When did God determine who He would save? When the sinner 'accepts' Him? No, 'before the foundation of the world' - it's already determined by Him. The doctrine of election is hated by sinners, it is repulsive because they have no hand in salvation. The law keeper tries to earn merit through their law keeping, not comprehending God requires sinless perfection every time, and death for those who can't possibly meet that requirement and don't trust solely in Christ's finished work as 'propitiatory'. The Arminian wants to use their free will to help God save them, the religious think God just loves all to pieces and wants to save every single one, but can't apart from man doing something. So we end up with sinners continually doing something to earn salvation,thus, dead works prevail. The meaning of *Grace* escapes most of the religious world.The Gospel goes forth, the elect hear and come because God draws, God opens the mind, God does it all. The non elect never come, why is that? They weren't meant to..... |

Tim, you can't neglect other scriptures and continually trot out that same verse you always trot out. That text has already been addressed, sinners never come, it's in the present tense, so it's a continual action. NO ONE can come unless what? The father draws- John 6:44. Sinners hate the Gospel, they hate it because it removes any and all ability to be saved from them and gives all the glory to God.
Silversides makes the same mistake Reformed Calvinists make, the Gospel is an 'offer'. No, it's a declaration of what Christ has done to save His people from their sins. Yes, the elect will respond, because the triune God does a work to open the mind. ***When you understand the Gospel is for the elect alone, then you will understand the non elect will not ever respond, they weren't meant to***. They have been ordained unto eternal damnation. This is the sovereign will of God.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.1 Peter 2:8. Notice what the Gospel does, it is a rock of offense to them that 'stumble, or take offense', at the word, they are being disobedient, present tense, ongoing. Why? Why do they not respond favorably? The Gospel is repulsive to them, why? This is what they were appointed to- ordained, purposed. So, the 'response' of those appointed to stumble, is this - they are offended by the Gospel. They stumble, they disobey, that is their response, because that is what God ordained it to be. ALL disobey His commandments, that doesn't make them any less of a command. Our 'response' doesn't determine the validity. |

US, I wasn't using rabbit trails. You said this, "denying the non Biblical premise that men are not called to respond to the gospel when **clearly they are**...."And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent". God commands, does that mean He expects sinners to respond? No, because He has already determined who He saved and who He didn't save.
You seem to give a somewhat conflicting view, insisting every person should respond, yet saying God must do a work, the latter being true.
I listened to a sermon this morning that pointed out this fact, there are two kinds of people, Romans 9:22,23 make this clear. The vessels of wrath fitted for destruction will never respond, the Gospel isn't for them. The Gospel is only for the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory. Then why did you post "Ephesians 1:12-14? You keep insisting upon this, " In no case do you find a gospel message given without a call for men to respond" This is arminian dung. God does NOT hold any sinner 'responsible' to either respond to His Gospel or NOT respond, for IF you really believed God determines whom He saves, you would get it. But you don't. You fall for the 'man is responsible' lie, as if salvation lies in the balance of man's actions. Citing ONE verse does not negate salvation is of the Lord, God has already determined those He elected unto life, and those He elected to be damned. Man has no 'responsibility' in believing, to say so implies a sinner can be saved if he/she would only believe, trust in Christ. for no man can believe nor will believe unless he/she is elect. The rest are damned, by God's doing, by God's determining will. This is what you don't get. That's why you trot out the 'responsibility' dung, as though God left it up to man to be responsible for something he cannot respond to. IF you really believe God elects and saves, how is it man can be responsible for that which he is dead to?

Why do the elect trust in Christ? What is the 'cause' of them trusting US? Is it by their own doing, or that of God?
"Unless you are born again, you cannot 'see' the kingdom of God' - see, meaning 'understand, discern'. Unless God opens the mind, you will never comprehend the Gospel on your own, by your natural understanding, for " the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Cor. 2:14 ALL of salvation is of the LORD - Jonah 2:9What causes you to 'put your trust' in Christ? Is it your own ability, or is it something God does in you? Looking into His word, it becomes clear the elect believe because God has gifted them with faith- Eph. 2:8,9. |
