Seaton, are you as concerned about the souls of people as you are your Calvinism? Is there anything else in the whole counsel of God that you know about, or is it just Calvinism, Calvinism, Calvinism? This thread is about the judgment, but nowhere in scripture does it say anyone will be judged for not adhering to Calvinism. Will you please find something else to discuss and get off this dead horse you're beating!

Once again this post has returned to a Calvinism debate. I stepped into the trap set by For the Record, and we need to get away from it. There is to much to be learned about revival if we can only stay true to the survey question. Please, I beg you, let's drop the Calvinism argument and get on to more important things, the reviving of God's people and the salvation of lost souls!

Record, I guess in choosing to believe the doctrines of grace I called myself a Calvinist. I believe in the sovereignty of God, but do not discount the responsibility of man and the fact that sin and Satan are real. If that disqualifies me as a Calvinist, so be it. As far as vulgarity goes, your antagonism is just as much a sin. The Bible says that we are not to provoke one another, and that is exactly what you have done. I aologize for using the crass language, but I believe in getting right to the point. To those I have offended, I apologize. Record, to keep from further offenses on my part, I shake the dust from my shoes in regard to you. You deserve neither the time nor the effort when the discussion could be much more beneficial with others. I became what you are for a few posts. That I regret. It won't happen again. Back to the need for revival. I know I need it.

Record, if you truly believe that then why bother posting to tell me otherwise since I am deluded by God's sovereign will. For that matter, why pray, why witness, why do anything? God's already determined everything, "every thought, every action" as you put it. We are robots, we are to be fatalists, we love God by coercion, we sin according to His perfect will, we kill, maim, rape, lie, steal, commit adultery, hate, etc. according to Hi perfect will. Do i have it right, Record? God forced this person at VT to kill? God forced Hitler to murder millions of Jews? God forces people to get angry? God forces men to beat their wives and children? God forces priests to molest little boys? God does all of this? Yes or no?

David, good to hear from you brother. I was actually reading an article with that whole A.W. Tozer quote in it while I was praying this afternoon. That's part of the reason I asked for prayer in regard to the preaching thing. We need more men like Tozer who wasn't afraid to say what needed to be said. The article also said that many of these men won't be taught in our bible colleges and seminaries, but will be taught by the Holy Spirit and will thus speak in His power and boldness. Thanks for praying, men!

Skipping Record, since you made reference to something I posted, "God's ways are not our ways", I must respond again with, do you have God all figured out? Isn't it possible that sovereignty and responsibilty work side by side and not in contradiction? Does it have to be either/or and not both/and? Again, I choose to believe that I don't have all of the answers and that God is bigger than I am. You, on the other hand, are equal with God considering that, by your posts, you have ALL of the answers!

Michael H. And also, is it any wonder that Satan would use people like For The Record to get us off the topic and onto some idiotic argument, again, about Calvinism. I am doing a study on the fear of God. As we pray for revival, I am starting a study on the fear of God (I think you said that this was one of the biggest issues facing the church in another survey). I don't believe we can truly see revival until we understand this truth. The main point for me is that it MUST begin with us pastors. We need to fear God more than our congregation if we are going to see revival. We must be unafraid to preach the truth of the Word, even if it means offending people and seeing them leave the church. It will mean exposing sin and false doctrine, even naming names, which people don't like. But we must do it or we won't see God move in our midst. Please pray for me Michael, and anyone else, that I, and other pastors, wil answer the call to be a prophet to our churches. We must proclaim loud and clear the holiness of our God, the sinfulness of humanity, and the exclusiveness of the gospel of Jesus Christ without fear!

Off the Record. I'm sure you wouldn't be so disrespectful if it were one of your family members killed in this shooting. If you don't have something productive to add, take a hike!

Yes, I believe in the Sovereignty of God, but I also believe in the responsibility of man. Are you so enlightened in your theology that youo can say you understand this paradox completely? Do you fully grasp the way that God thinks and acts? If so, then youo must be God, because He says that His thoughts are not our thoughts. I will admit that I do not have every theological question answered. Therefore, I leave room for God to be bigger than I am. If that is a fault that a Calvinist shouldn't have, so be it. You need some humility if you think you have all the answers.

Exactly right, Faithful Remnant! Expositor says a fetus doesn't have life, but it's a sin to have an abortion. My question to him would be "why is it wrong?" It doesn't break any of God's laws if it is not alive. Therefore, just as you said, he is encouraging abortion. There is no other way to look at it!!

Broken Record, there is a HUGE difference between Calvinist and HYPER Calvinist. You made the accusation first, not me. If you wanted someone who was going to roll over and play dead while you made your remarks, you picked the wrong place. I know what I believe and why I believe it. My church knows EXACTLY where I stand, I'm not one of those soft spoken, people pleasing, ear tickling types. If you don't knnow that, you haven't been around here very long!
P.S-I wasn't defending Semper Fi, I was using your own words because your last post didn't make a whole lot of sense. Also, I don't wrap God in an American flag, but I also don't blame the government for everything that goes wrong. If that makes me a traitor, so be it; God isn't an American and He definitely isn't a Republican!!!

For The Record, what's your point? You sound like you might be on some of those "psychotropic drugs" the government gives out! Maybe you work for one of those "black ops"! Anyway, as we pray for revival, we will pray for you.

For the record, so are you a hyper-calvinist like those you accused on the revival thread? Are you a fatalist who believes that what will be, will be? Are you saying we are pawns in God's hands? Robots without any responsibility? Think about it.

Expositor, first, I think you're posting on the wrong thread; second, what do these verses have to do with the thread it should be on?
I didn't say the scriptures forbid slavery, I said your statement that slavery was God's punishment of the wicked was incorrect and ludicrous.

Disgusted, looks like you're afraid to deal with the truth. Yes, it is a tragedy what happened today, but why is it that WE pick and choose what to get upset about? God tells us to hate evil, to expose it, and to stand against it in a proactive way. Thirty lives is a big deal. Thousands of lives every day is a bigger deal. Thousands of souls going into eternity every day, many of them without Christ, is the biggest tragedy. Michael's post was more than appropriate. Please, don't bury your head in the sand.

Thank you, Bro. Williams. This topic is to important to let it get out of hand. I just read the tract you talked about. He is absolutely right about why we don't see revival. Our American version of christianity is a cheap, unbiblical, and heretical phony. We need to get back to believing and living the Book and expecting to pay a price for following Jesus. Until we do, we will just have more of the same old selfish, greedy, me-first religion trying to pass as christianity. It makes me sick and according to Revelation, it makes God puke too!

Expositor, you never responded to my post on 4/14/07 3:48 PM.I gave Bible verses and asked intelligent questions which you didn't answer. But since you accuse, was God punishing the "wicked man" (I use your phraseology), Onesimus, who was a fellow believer to his slave owner Philemon? Many of the slaves in America were God fearing, born again christians. Was God punishing them as well? That's why I called your comments ludicrous. You base these statements on your twisted, demented view of the Bible and ignore the obvious passages that show the fallacy of your posts. If there are any new or weak believers reading these posts, please, don't let this person lead you astray from the truth with his novel , and yet, unbiblical ideas. Expositor, be a gentleman and excuse yourself from this site for the sake of the weaker christian."These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings.Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."

I was going to respond to some of Expositors comments until I saw him write, "in Scripture we see slavery as one of many judgments which the Lord God himself brings upon the wicked". Comments like this are so ludicrous that they don't deserve an intelligent response. All I can say is that I will avoid this thread and hope that individuals like Expositor will disappear from the scene or get truly saved because his nonsense may lead a new or weaker christian down the wrong path. I will pray for you Expositor, and I will also pray that God will protect His own from your wicked twisting of scripture. WOLF, WOLF, WOLF in sheep's clothing!
