Mourner wrote: Dorcus, This Lord's Day I read a portion of Chapter 8 of Patrick Gillespie's 'The Ark of the Testament Opened or the Lord's Covenant Unsealed, in the Treatise of the Covenant of Grace' which was titled 'the eighth property of the Covenant is Particular and Personal'. I sat outside remembering with sweetness the Lord's patience with me over the course of a life time, there has been so much ignorance on my part. I recall thinking once that it is the sin of of this age. Yes, we have been glutted with good information but Psalm 25:14 Have you read Mr.Gillespie or William Guthrie's 'The Christian's Greatest Interest'? @Michael H I meant to write the angel explains in Rev. 17:7-18, my mistake, sorry Mourner, Good Lord's Day. No I have not read either of the men that you mentioned. I have read some of Mr. Boston, Owen,Manton, and Charnock..and have gleaned a little here and a little there. These days most of my reading is the Bible and printed sermons on-line. Mr. Gilbert Bebee and J.C. Philpot have enriched me over the last few years. |

To take this thread in another direction, I would suggest to any RC reading this or for those of us who have family and friends who are RC; remember the greatest problem is not the RCC; it is sin. The true way of salvation needs to explained and shown directly fom the Scriptures. Asking questions to make sure they understand what the Bible is saying and having them explain it to you. Catholics and noncatholics use many of the same words but with different meanings..be careful to define your terms. Remember, they think because they have been baptized and try to live a somewhat moral life and attend mass that everything is just fine. The average catholic is trusting the "church" to care for their souls and to tell them what to believe about God and what work to do for salvation. Bathing it always in much prayer . |

John Yurich USA wrote: That applies to those who believe the RCC is a Cult. A Cult does not worship Jesus as God. Anybody with half a brain knows that. The religion of Rome can imitate true biblical Christianity...but only so far. The dead false doctrine it teaches cannot bring forth genuine spiritual life from sinners dead in their sins. It's deception is obvious to all those born from above... |
