Paging Warren Jeffs! Paging Warren Jeffs! You might want to push back on the government about that whole "polygamy is illegal" thing right about now.

Step #1 is to drop the 501-c-3 tax exemption. Until churches do that en masse, they don't have a leg to stand on. I don't know how any organization can request special favors from Ceasar and then whine when he calls in the favor. Read "Hush Money" or "In Ceasar's Grip".

What's more, isn't it slightly inconsistent for an LGBT couple to want to be married in a church?

This is the wrong solution. Keeping information away from students is not the answer. The beef is that students are being taught that evolution is true. There is no reason why the kids shouldn't learn ABOUT evolution, just like they should learn ABOUT nazi germany.

Stephen,

Did the women in west philadelphia have the right to choose to have their babies born prematurely and then killed?

Cliff,

Our present difficulty has nothing to do with government abandoning biblical laws. Its that people are fallen. No laws change that.

If you want to coerce people into following Biblical laws, don't whine when Sharia Law leaves Detroit and comes to you.

Im curious about this new concern for private family decisions. Does that mean he's ok with me home schooling? What about health care decisions? Can I make the private decision to possess the means to protect my family when I leave home? Its almost as funny as Hillary Clinton arguing for states rights but being ok with federally mandated health care. The inconsistency of it all is about to make me lose all my hair.

Maya, your idea is right but your application is all wrong. Yes, freedom means some people are going do some things you don't like. The key here as to whether or not government should intervene is whether or not someone else's rights are being hurt. My actions are allowed until they take away your god given rights. In abortion, the baby's right to life is being taken, so government (coercive force) is right to intervene. What worries me is that you don't see the baby as having the right to life. Why not?

In her defense, she's not advocating that nobody ever use force. That you say that tells me that you haven't thought it through, and you are running on emotion or something else.

The multiverse theory is a tacit admission that our universe is uncannily fit for us. Atheists referring to an unseen entity to explain design. The irony is rich!

Kent Hovind is good, but he hasn't come up with any new material for a while. He hasn't come up with any for the last few years particularly, because he's presently incarcerated. His son tries to fill his shoes, but all he does is take his dad's material (and his jokes) and deliver them poorly.

I've found that investing in gold and silver is a good way to maintain purchasing power over the long haul. It's not perfect, though. See Jan 1980. If you wish to MAKE money, put it in something else.

Oh yes, thanks for the compliment.

There's nothing that guarantees stability. Gold is a commodity like any other. It meets all the classic requirements for good money. (Durability, workability, can be divided, etc). For whatever reason, people trends to choose it when left to themselves.

The troubles in prefiat times came from over issue of paper promises. That must, and always does, end in a crash. Fiat money is nothing if it is not a tool for calculated depreciation for the benefit of those who control it.

There should be no mandated money. Let people trade what they want. If force of law is to be used, use it to make people honor their promises to redeem their receipts for specie.

I don't get the distinction. Changing value hourly is dishonest, but changing daily isn't?

Fiat currency is dishonest, just like lying about weights and measures in a literal sense. Take for example the gold seizure in 1933. Today, gold is $20. Give me your gold or go to jail. Next week I'll demand $35 in paper receipts for the same ounce. It may not be LITERAL weights and measures, bit the reference still fits.

You are correct about one thing. The dual metal system was surprisingly short sighted and foolish for the otherwise intelligent founders to do. As the market fluctuates, one type of coin will be more valuable as metal than money.

You should look up a speech by Stuart Crane called "Wheat Receipts". I don't think it is on this site, but I know you can Google it.

Neil,

I've made that argument before. If a church is going to preach against debt, should they only accept specie in the offering plate?

I have two basic problems with our money system as it is today. First, the money that the bank loans to individuals and governments is not money someone else saved first. It is created out of nothing. Second, we are required by law to accept it. A signed pledge of debt can be used as a commodity, but to use force of law to make people accept it is wrong.

A dollar is defined as a fixed amount of silver, but you can't trade it for silver anymore. That's the reason for the reference to just weights and measures. Try going to the fed reserve bank and demanding one "dollar" (371.25 grains) of silver in exchange. Good luck.

Why only two parents? What about parent 3? Parent 4? (etc) It's pretty arrogant to assume 2 is "normal", isn't it?

That depends. Which religion is losing influence? It seems like atheism is gaining a lot of ground.

You should listen to Todd Friel's radio program (Wretchef Radio) on Wednesdays. He does man on the street interviews with college students. Its called "witness wednesday". He frequently asks then what they think it takes to reach heaven. They always give the same pat answers about being good.
