Those who believe Reformed churches who conduct infant baptism are unequivocally mirroring the RCC are woefully forsaken. The RCC believes in the SALVATION by BAPTISM while the Reformed believe it is a COVENANT hope of EVENTUAL salvation. Just like the scripture says, not all who were circumcised physically were so spiritually, but it did stop or reduce the trust in God as it relates to His Covenanted promises. I find it fascinating the critique upon brothers of the faith (the Reformers) as if exhaustive theological comprehension has been achieved in the 21st century church in need of desperate reformation herself.
Dr. Tim, The Reformers were the ones who pointed out the RCC was Babylon. Luther wrote "The Babylonian Captivity". Further, the fruits of some of the Reformers through martyrdom speaks to, though imperfect, their devotion to truth. I don't see, including myself, too many in our day standing for the truth as they did.
Read 1984 folks, human observation of society detached from universal, biblical principles is what Orwell put to writing. This is the cake the world baked, now they have to eat it. Become a lemming or a martyr, no more riding the fence "Christians".
Stranger, The comparison you used is a stretch at best. The KKK did carry out terror against people, but are far from the numbers and zealous adherence toward their "cause". The KKK/Neo-nazi crowd is completely shadowed by those who follow Islam. In fact, the former is really a boogeyman anymore. They can hardly muster up a few dozen people for a march. Plus, I haven't seen daily attacks, burning of people alive, filmed beheadings, filming of children shooting people, or a host of other atrocities being committed on the level of Muslims by "racists". Apples and oranges friend.
MS, I regret you and the kids had to endure this sin. I am concerned with overreaction by some who would rather see any education through Christian means to be shut down through scare tactics. Thanks for the clarification.
Jim, Nice use of worldly false logic through the creation of a false dilemma. Your argument was used by Abortionists to get the Roe v Wade outcome. Why do you find it incumbent upon yourself to seek a loophole to clear biblical truth? The devil was the original "Hath God said?" Questioner, why are you taking up his mantle?
Broad is the way that leads to destruction. Narrow is the path that leads to righteousness. God is separating the goats from the lambs, glory be to God.
Jim Lincoln, Give it a rest. ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Your not committing this dreadful sin isn't because your NOT Catholic, but by the grace of God. Enough with the churlish posts.
I commend Russell Vought, stand firm on the foundation brother. As for the "outrage" towards Senator Sanders, he represents the consensus of American politicians and a good majority of the population. Jim Lincoln is right on this one.
Frank, The subject matter relates to those who profess to be God's children but are in religious groups with serious theological errors and can they true believers or not. Look at nearly any book in the Old Testament and you will find Israel falling into some form of idolatry or wandering. I used this as a reference for my point.
Frank and Ladybug, I was asking a legitimate question, not nitpicking or trying to wander off. Ladybug DID state she believes God would not have his elect remain in a dangerous organized religion. Hence, my question concerning the Reformers. There was a time, multiple times in fact, that Israel strayed into idolatry and false doctrine, but GOD still had His people in the midst. I am genuinely trying to understand how you reconcile your statements.
Ladybug, Do you believe any of the Reformers were saved prior to the Reformation, or anyone in Europe while under Roman Catholic dominance? There is no doubt the RCC is doctrinally in the wilderness, but to think NO ONE is saved is presumptious. I don't know if any or all of those murdered by ISIS were Christians, but do find it hard to believe that any one on here knows.
John from Atl, You adhere to a Pelagian view of sin, plain and simple. Jesus was NOT formed with the seed of a man, hence the miraculous nature of his birth. How do you miss this in the gospel accounts?
Lie Defector, You stated "Nobody has the faintest clue what biblical reconciliation with God actually is."Does this include yourself or the rest of the professing church excluding yourself? Further, if man had an inkling of good in him, what need of Christ? Man could cultivate that good and follow the law and prophets, meeting God's standard of righteousness. Your hyperbolic accusation of history's greatest heretic is unfounded and rather absurd. Especially when you rank Augustine and Luther as 1 and 2. Who then, Detecor of lies, has been a standard bearer of theological purity? Judging by your view of Luther and Augustine, Pelagius seems the logical choice by reason of you perspective.
