Jim's tired tirades against his previeved enemies, Dominionism, is quite Quixote-esque. He is tilting as phantoms of the Left's imagination.

All law is based on a moral standard. Something is right or correct. Something else is wrong. Who establishes those standards is his biggest concern. He looks for a crowd-sourced set of definitions. At the root of that is self-reliance and self-rule, shaking their collective fist at the Lord.

Instead, Christians acknowledge that the Lord is our maker, sustainer, and King. His moral standards are the ones with which He will judge. While all of us fail that judgment on our own without Christ, His precepts are the best place to start as a basis for right vs wrong and any law that flows from those.

The French experiement in Enlightenment liberty and fraturity hasn't worked out so well.

France has been under attack for a number of years. Their desire to secularize Islam thru immigration as they have secularized their society from Christian influence has proven a failure. Islam sees a vacuum and an opportunity for expansion. And it is on the move.

As our nation fractured and balkanizes, Islam likely will become a factor in the US as well. With Christian influence waning and Christians increasingly marginalized or outright "cancelled," the other force of the unholy alliance will likely increase in its efforts against its current co-conspirator, Progressivism. One beast will attack the other. The only reason they don't sometimes isnthat they both work for the same entity - Satan.

Liberty is a university that some of our friends have trusted to meet the educational needs/desires of themselvs and their children. It certainly is not the same as when Fallwell Sr. was alive. Not much has gone on there in the last decade that hasn't raised eyebrows, at least the tidbits that reach our ears or screens.

Someone is going to have to get a handle on the vision and purpose of the institution and get it back on track, if it is going to be saved. That will be messy, difficult work...rooting out the liberals and heretics, establishing Biblical standard, upholding the word and Word above all things. May the Lord preserve Liberty.

Huh?

I'm not sure what these folks are thinking or experiencing, but I've got pain too of various kinds. Mine I attribute to the Fall:

For I count that the afflictions of this present time are not worthy of the glory, which shall be showed unto us. For the fervent desire of the creature waiteth when the sons of God shall be revealed, Because the creature is subject to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him, which hath subdued it under hope, Because the creature also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. For we know that every creature groaneth with us also, and travaileth in pain together unto this present. And not only the creature, but we also which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we do sigh in ourselves, waiting for the adoption, even the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen, is not hope: for how can a man hope for that which he seeth? But if we hope for that we see not, we do with patience abide for it. - Romans 8:18-25

That's my understanding as well, Brother Frank. I also thought that abolishing this prohibition was one of President Trump's campaign promises from the last election.

Jim, I think your argument is passe at this point. It was relevant during the debate over the Constituionality of the National Bank about 200 years ago. However, this phrase from the Constitution has generically been used: "to make all laws necessary and proper for carrying into execution the enumerated powers."

An originality not only looks at the words, but the original intent of the authors of the Constitution and subsequent federal legislation to ensure law is applied in the manner in which it was intended.

The author of your posting also has intent - to whip to a frenzy the uneducated mobs to cause a Socialist revolution such as occurred in France to topple the monarchy.

The Constitution may be many things to many people, but it stands against such mob rule situations. The very balance of powers between the three branches does this. It is a system designed to check the universal problem of Total Depravity.

There is another "system" in place to check Total Depravity. He is the Holy Spirit. Above all, I commend faith in Christ Jesus.

Phenomenal character from Schumer and the Democrats. If they are so worked up about how the Republicans ran their majority, acting out doesn't make them any better. "All's fair in love and war."

Thank you, Brother. Just rewatched "Is Genesis History?" It reminded me of all the different theories that were so accepted and now jettisoned, and even that there are a variety of opinions between Christian, young earth scientists regarding how things came to be. That is the nature of science. We want to think that the scientists have the answers. Ultimately, they have guesses with more questions and the more they learn, the more questions they have.

Trust is a difficult thing. Not much here we could ever trust in but the Lord Himself. Grateful for Brothers like you in whom His Spirit rests and the wisdom you often share.

Thank you, Local Resident, for sharing that perspective. Men like this one who stood up for Biblical truth against the tide of liberal falsehoods ought to be commended.

I am sure that his theology and mine have differences, and there are those who would condemn the man for the differences they have or precieve they have with him.

For me, this story represents the existence of a remenant of Biblical thought in a place where we would not expect it. When the Lord Jesus openly questioned whether or not He would find faith when He returns, which doesn't speak too well of us either. Anything He finds will be of His own creation and sustainment.

Brother Frank, I personally feel that an important plank in a major party's unwritten platform is about making sex between anyone at any time and any place acceptable. After all, "love is love," isn't it?

We both know it is not. First, the Bible defines 3 different types of love and the Progressives only see one, eros. Second, every created thing including eros has its proper place. The sea is within the shoreline. Romantic love has approriate boundaries as well, defined by its Creator and listed in the Bible. We don't get to redifine those rules without committing treason against the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Rewriting His precepts means taking over His position, as if we made ourselves.

I found the article pretty shocking. Romans 1 immediately comes to mind.

To a large extent, there seem two factors here:

An anti-male/anti-patriarchal piece in which women have spurned relationships with men after decades of men bring trashed by society and women, esp the sensual woman, being elevated.

There is also an anti-marriage/anti-family piece that the article closed with. No self-respecting young woman these days wants to get wrapped up in all THAT, after all. Family is a major source of angst in today's culture, to some extent for good reason considering the divorce culture. Singleness and the ultimate availability is in.

Neither is of God.

I do believe you have nailed the problem, Brother Frank. The reality of science is that there are many theories based on observations and then analysis which has an inherent bias simply because people are doing the observations and analizing. That leads to a variety of opinions, disputes, controversies, and the like. Add the political factor which you aptly included, and no one knows who or what to believe. At least I don't. If there has been a major casualty, it is Trust. Because when Truth seems so relative based on whomever is speaking or shouting and the varieties of information from the "experts" isn't all that consistent, the nihilism of the age just creeps in. And now Truth, having been slain some years ago in the name of political and societal expediance, wasn't there to uphold his brother Trust. And Trust has fallen. Wisdom for her part, must be standing afar off with Justice. Both must be shaking their heads in disgust. Shouldn't we also?

Outstanding answer and explanation, US. Might I add that the fruit of the Spirit or the character traits that grow from faith in 2 Peter 1 are evidence of the Lord at work in the heart of the believer to begin to conform him or her more perfectly to Himself. This is an ongoing process incomplete in this life. No one at any time can say he or she earned anything from God but a swift kick and a quick trip to Hell. Still, no forward motion likely equals no Holy Spirit.

There is a significant difference between watching a church service for a chuckle and participating remotely as you have encouraged us to do, Jim. If it's only entertainment, that's a larger problem between the viewer and the Lord.

Amen, Brother Frank! Thank you for your wisdom! I think that is many of our collective experiences. Indeed, no truly Cristian church is devoid of the truth, and each has its strengths and weaknesses, it seems. Some have more weaknesses than strengths, which becomes the fodder for many a discussion on this board.

In the continual spreading of seeds of doubt comes the conclusion that the sower is sowing tares and not wheat.

There is no Gospel within the PCUSA. They have almost entirely sold themselves to Satan. While some congregations are better than others, their Presbyteries ensure that they don't move too far from the denominational standard.

To leave these folks is to abandon a sinking ship. One may call that whatever one desires. There is a command of the Lord to "Come out from among them."

Sanctification is a process. Many of us have known people who have left false churches in with an interim step. I have a good friend who is former RCC. He was saved thru a Pentcostal church but eventually moved to a solid Baptist church. Trump's spiritually journey, assuming he is on one, is like anyone else's. As he matures in the faith, he will seek deeper and truer churches...like those here on SA.
