25 Blasphemous Quotations
By Atheist Ireland | Published: January 2, 2010
Published by Atheist Ireland on 1 January 2010

1. Jesus Christ, when asked if he was the son of God, in Matthew 26:64: “Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” ....

2. Jesus Christ, talking to Jews about their God, in John 8:44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.” ....

Christians beware of new blasphemy laws!

I repeated the experiment and found the same results.

Before we get too carried away with the oil money theory we should also read the full article that said:-

"After all, search for hot-button items such as "scientology is" or "Muhammad is" and the results are even more offensive."

One wonders where the money went that Warren made from his bestselling books and personal appearances. Surely he has made more than $900k. I think it's "amazing" that all this money is off the table. Do the people in this megachurch not wonder?
Good question Scott. But is this just the domain of the megachurches?

Folks in normal occupations are subject to employment contracts that detail that intellectual property rights on anything developed or written in company time is the property of the employer.

Pastors in contrast often spend their office hours writing books or commentaries, are also given paid sabbaticals to write books and do research, have their sermons or conference addresses turned into books by others with little additional work and ... who then owns the royalties and income from the books?

When pastors do pulpit swaps, do they retain their full salaries and then also have each church typically pay for their visiting preacher's time and labour as well?

As has been observed here before by others, one does not need to be a millionaire to be a hireling.

Why did she not just simply pray for the sick pupil?

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Telling the girl and her mother that there were people praying for them, and asking to pray with them availeth NOTHING.

btw - she is posing for the picture with a crucifix... presumably so that we may "know" she is a "real" Christian?

Frank - since she was not technically sacked, what do you propose she sue for?

"... it hath been found by experience, that it is inconsistent with the safety and welfare of this Protestant kingdom, to be governed by a popish prince,"
(Bill of Rights)

Who needs a mere popish prince when you can have the real deal Antichrist himself.

"Westminster Hall was built in the 11th century and is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster.
It is sacred to many Catholics because it was where many martyrs and saints were tried for High Treason during the Protestant Reformation. "

High Treason does not a "martyr" or a "saint" make. Note the Papist stance of the Daily Telegraph.

"He will make an address to MPs and peers from the spot where Sir Thomas was sentenced in 1535 for his opposing the adultery of King Henry VIII. "
"More was beheaded after he refused to take an oath attached to the Act of Supremacy that made the King the supreme head of the Church in England."

Note the Daily Telegraph deliberate falsehood in the opening sentence. The Act of Supremacy is a separate matter. He was not "sentenced in 1535 for his opposing the adultery of King Henry VIII".

Note also the inclusion of the terrorist Guy Fawkes, no doubt he is to be St Guy in due course.

"Inspectors said some materials were biased or had incorrect information about the beliefs of other religions. "

Can we now likewise expect to see an accurate and biblical presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ in state schools? Together with a critical appraisal of where false churches depart from the Bible? Excellent place to start teaching real analytical thinking skills.

As well as all the interfaith stuff, and sadly some very biased (pro) Christian resources, I do remember a simple and accurate presentation of the gospel being given in RE in the state school system ... 25 years ago mind. I got the message, didn't believe it at the time. But in the sovereignty of God it laid a foundational knowledge.

Chris Perver wrote:
"I am sent not, but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel", Matthew 15:24. Jesus Christ never left the holy land.
Chris,

Whilst agreeing with your general point on British Israelism it is worth remembering in context that Jesus was NOT in Israel when he said that. And He said it to a local.

Mt 15:21:-
Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

Acts 1:6-8
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

On a different track, I find it a little ironic that a Scotsman wants to perpetuate an unbiblical myth that Jesus went to England. Perhaps the sequel film will have Jesus going to Kirkcudbright ...?

Neil,

I'd rather not get drawn into how pastors are paid right now.

My concern is that we maintain the biblical view of the true value of a man's work and labour and character.

Low paid and/or menial work is not in the least less than fully honourable. Indeed, I would argue forcefully to the contrary that it is highly honourable.

Also ironic is getting a prayer request email from an ex-pastor who, to be fair, did take on low paid work - at least for a time.

The prayer request however asked that we might pray that he would find something more 'God honoring'. I think the reference was more to do with wage levels than the presumably 'dishonourable' nature of customer service work or a desire to return to the ministry.

It can of course be legitimate to pray straightforwardly for higher paid work, especially if someone has dependent family to provide for.

"how unlikely getting a new job as good as my old one would be"

With all due respect to Steve Lee's everywhere I think the Puritans would have had some very direct advice in response to that comment.

As a modern day Puritan put it

Neil wrote:
These days, people seem to think they are entitled to many good things besides Christ-mass gifts - a college degree, high pay, job security, a big house, medical care, etc. I wonder if they learned that from the Santa cult?

Strange and interesting reasoning here.

"Christian ministries" are objecting that introducing life sentences or capital punishment "will make Christian ministry to homosexuals impossible".

This is in contradistinction to the current 14 year sentences which presumably "Christian ministries" don't think make ministry to homosexuals impossible.

Whoso,

1. Even I can recognise Jim's borrowed use of irony.

2. No, if you use spurious and circular argumentation in favour of the KJV over the modern versions expect to have the argument turned around on you. Use good arguments and it wont happen.

... and actually this is a news piece about the Lord's Prayer as Mike commented before.

I always post quotations on here using the Authorised Version. But then, I know why I do; but I know not why you do, Guinness.
I know why you do to:-

John UK wrote:
I read and study and memorise the inerrant word of God as it is found in English in the Authorised Version of 1769.
Whoso wrote:
2. There is only ONE KJV!
You two can argue amongst yourselves.

The Authorised Version is an excellent translation that partially stood on the shoulders of giants.

The Authorised Version of the scriptures is not inerrant. Yours is a strange doctrine that is alien to Christianity. For example:-

"The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), and the New Testament in Greek (which at the time of its writing was most generally known to the nations) were immediately inspired by God, and were kept pure through subsequent ages by His singular care and providence. They are therefore authentic , so that in all controversies of religion , the church must appeal to them as final."

I see you don't trust in a Sovereign God.
Rather than boast about your Greek education, how about presenting coherent, reasoned, logical arguments as fruit of an education.

And, no I'm not "dedicated to the modern versions". I usually post quotations on here using the Authorised Version.

What valid points have you brought up? Not one. Instead you post circular argumentation like this:-

Whoso wrote:
9. Doubts like these are doubting the Lord. You really should not critisize Him that way Jim. God has always provided for His elect.
I don't agree with Jim on Bible versions, but reasoned arguments would be better for him to consider.

Whoso, leave the field to genuine defenders of the supremacy of the Byzantine text type please. Sadly, they are few and far between on these sermonaudio forums.

May God deliver the Authorised Version from silly and stupid modern argumentation and defences!

Enough with your nonsense.
