"Nothing New" Ecclesiastes 1:9/ Ecc. 3

When we wake up for the coming New Year we will be told everything is new and will be different. We can forget about the past and the world paints a rosy picture. A new chapter is to be written with many New Year's resolutions taking place. All things are new....BUT, then the Word of God comes and speaks. There is NOTHING new under the sun. We can forget the past, but remember we must answer for it. The same world with the very same enticements will be present, but so will the same, unchangeable God! ..."I am, I was, I will be!" God casts all of time in a couple of tenses here. Time always has content and we must look at time in this perspective through God's eyes. How will we walk in the new year 2020?

Scripture seems to strive with what we see around us. Make sure you listen to the fireworks that will take place in celebration of the new year! 2019 will be over and finished with a new opportunity. There will be change all around including in our own calendars. Man is secure in himself....YET, we must live by faith knowing who holds the future. "No worries, God has it covered." The things that have been done will be done however. Do we catch this truth? Sure, we see and catch the differences and we mark the calendar with the different happenings, but God is asking us to look at the story behind the narrative. See it clearly!

We know the history but what is God's story behind the narrative? We live the history, but understand IT IS the unfolding of God's counsel which is unchanging. His plan and His purpose from the beginning of time.. We often look at history from its happenings and what happened in it, but we must look at it from HIS STORY as He unfolds it in the happenings of man in history. (Asaph didn't understand the happenings UNTIL he went to church!) We can turn to many passages of scripture that give the same comfort that it ALL happens by the Almighty God!

As we stand in uncertainty, God whispers in our ears His secret! And we know that all the things that will happen are for God and His gatherings of His church. All things were of God and He will continue to do them as He unfolds His counsel. Are we going to run with the world and be inebriated? Read Revelations and scripture and get a dose of reality! HE WROTE THE STORY and will unfold it to you and to me as He does to the end of history. Man is like the tender flower. We are thankful for the unchanging God who has us in the palm of His hand....in the past, now, and in the future!

"Another year is dawning Dear Father let it be, in working or in waiting, another year for Thee, Another year of leaning upon They loving breast, Another year of trusting, of quiet happy rest.
Another year of mercies, of faithfulness and grace, Another year of gladness in the shining of Thy face, Another year of progress, Another year of praise, Another year of proving Thy presence all the days. Another year of service, of witness for Thy love, Another year of training for holier work above. Another year is dawning, Dear Father let it be, On earth of else in heaven, Another year for THEE!"
