Clarification Please Thank you for this message. I think this was one of the best explanations I have ever heard on the promise in Acts 2:39. I do have a question if you have the time to answer it.
You said that the promise is "God with us" - the gospel - and is for all sinners. I wholeheartedly agree. But a few moments later (32:20), you say that the promise is not for the children of the world, but only for the the children of believers... How sad...
Two questions: 1) Was Peter not addressing unbelievers at Pentecost - those who yelled crucify Him? 2) Are unbelievers and their children not sinners and in need of the gospel just as much as the children of believers?
I do not mean to cause trouble, but this is one of the few places where I struggle in disagreement with Covenant Theology and no one has ever been able to give me a clear and biblical answer. Why can't we just let the passage mean what it says? The promise is for everyone who God draws to Himself (who believe)- for the whole world.
I know this is probably more than you bargained for in posting this message, but if you could supply biblical answers to the above questions as clearly as you explained what the promise is in your in your sermon, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you again and God bless!
Comments on Purgatory I think that purgatory is a result of a fundamental flaw within Catholicism, that of "not deserving" Hell or Heaven. Calvinism is unique in its "because I will, you will" theology as opposed to "if you will, then I will." The former focuses on grace, the latter focuses on works. A workss-oriented theology would naturally give rise to the idea of purgatory.
Excellent Sermon I enjoyed your message. There were a couple of questions I had about this incident, and you helped bring clarity. Thank you and God Bless you.
Great Sermon! This one sparked a conversation about the use of the phrase, "God bless you" -- when it may not be his intent to do so, and we take on the Lord's name in our judgment of others. This phrase too, is thrown around without a care.
Great Sermon! Catholics and Baptists both hold to the idea that Hell may be avoided through a sufficiently holy life. Catholics look to sacraments; Baptists give children and the developmentally deficient, a clean slate.
Great Sermon! Dear Pastor, Thank you for your wonderful message. I am a missionary In Nigeria. I listen to you thru the internet. I heard God te Father thru the anointing of your voice. Thank you for paying the price to faithfully preach the Word of God. Ps 138:8.

Thank you, Rev. Lanning! Is good to learn more about how to pray! The Lord Jesus prayed so much, he often went to desert places to pray and he told the disciples to pray even if He, the Lord, prayed for them also.
Thank you!
Finally God's Truth is Spoken at Last! Marriage is for Life! The Bible says, “A wife is married to her husband as long as he lives.” 1 Corinthians 7:39
The Bible does NOT say, a wife is married to her husband until she finds someone she likes better!
“Whosoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” Luke 16:18
Divorced people are being charged with adultery when they remarry. This means they are not free to remarry! They may believe they are free and clear when the court gives them a divorce decree that says the marriage has been dissolved but Jesus never freed them to remarry and His opinion is the only one that counts!
Divorced people are being charged with adultery upon remarriage because the Lord is not giving them freedom to enter a new marriage. Only death frees them. 1 Cor 7:39 The charge of adultery is ONLY given to people who are not married to each other. That means the remarriage is not valid to Jesus because He is actually charging them with adultery...which is sex OUTSIDE of a marriage.
Thank you Professor Engelsma for proclaiming the Word of God…

Finally Biblical Truth! May God Bless You Pastor for speaking the TRUTH from God's Word, while everyone else is continueing to tell
people what they want to hear because so many people are in this situation. But that still does not change God's Word even if the divorce rate reaches 99% God will still never change His Word.
Great Sermon! This sermon is superb. Everybody who loves the truth concerning marriage and is appalled at the rampant immortality and downgrading of marriage in society and in church MUST listen to it.
