Does God become angry with his people? Many Christians deny that God punishes his people. But in this verse from Daniel the persecution of the people of God by the Antichrist is said to be an expression of the indignation of God toward his peole. Here and in other places the Scripture teaches that there are seasons of indignation in which God gives up his own people to punishment beacuse they have sinned against him. This is true not only with regard the Christian church as a whole, but also for each Christian individually. Such seasons are bound by the unalterable decree of God, who orders these seasons for the purification of his church, the joy of his people, and blessing for the whole world.
