What is the "throne of grace"? What do we typically think of as we approach a seat, or a place, of authority? As we enter into a courtroom: that place of judicial power? We may be fearful of the judicial pronouncement, the judge's proclamation. We may think of the power of the law . . . of the fact that we have broken it . . . of the potential for receiving punishment due. But there should be a different thought as one seeks to approach the throne of grace. Yes . . . coming into God's throne room is an approach to the very place where He is seated. A seat from which He rules and reigns . . . but more so! It is the seat from which He dispenses, not only truth and justice (which our Lord indeed does), but also His grace. It is the throne of unmerited favor. It is the seat of the strong throne of grace and mercy. It is the place to come . . . the ONLY place to come, to receive the unmerited favor of God. And, the only way to approach the throne of grace for help is through confidence in the the righteous blood of the risen Mediator King, our Lord Jesus Christ.
