Let’s think about our average week. Most health professionals have stated that 8 hours a night is recommended for good health. With that in mind, this means that an average of 33% of your week is spent on rejuvenating the body. So you didn’t think that I left you out, the exhausted parents of young children may average about 6 hours of sleep which would be about 25%. This leaves about 67-75% of your week left. Let’s say, we spend an average of 3 hours together on Sunday for worship. That is about 1.8% of our week. There are many people who measure their spirituality based on Sunday morning worship. If the average person works 40 hours per week, then 25% of every week is spent at the workplace and the other 30-40% is spent in the home. Now, when it comes to being a follower of Jesus Christ, he is Lord over all- your heart, your home, the workplace, and church. Where do you think he is going to spend the most time sanctifying and growing you through what you learn on private and public worship! There are really only two main options—your home and the workplace. He wants you to grow in both. This is why Paul addressed spirit-filled living in marriage and the family, and now we are turning to the workplace. Does anyone have any difficulty in these two places? Of course, we are couped up with people who are not all concerned about pleasing us all of the time. The Lord is using these places to make you look more and more like Jesus. Have you been uncomfortable in your home and in the workplace? What do you think the Lord has been trying to teach you? The ultimate question is, “Who is your Boss?” |
