1. Jesus begins his Kingdom establishment by going into a local synagogue. It is a very strategic place to begin. It is always worship that separates and identifies God's people. 2. It is in the context of public worshiping, on the Lord's day, that Jesus enters into the conflict with a demon. This isn't just about demons, but all the enemies of our soul. They share three characteristics: 1) The enemy seeks to infiltrate into the most sacred places. 2) Our enemies want control. 3) The nature of our enemy defies holiness. 3. The conflict was initiated when Jesus exercised his power in speaking. The demon answered by speaking. Jesus responds by speaking. 4. Jesus came to the synagogue to proclaim truth to them, to set them free from the power of sin. How do you respond to the power of Christ; the Word of Jesus?
