No, & Amen! [When God says " No" you say"No"]Daniel 1:1-9Part of the Babylonian indoctrination program was changing the diet of the captives and also changing their names. The king is trying to get them to forget their old life and allegiance to God Almighty. The names that these boys have reveal that their parents feared the Lord. They are singled out because they are going to take a stand for the Lord.Daniel "purposed" in his heart not to defile himself. What does this mean? The word "purposed" comes from the Hebrew word suwm. It means "to determine, to fix, to resolve and be devoted to principle; to be committed to a course of action." Daniel resolved not to defile himself for he was being true to a lifelong determination to do what was right and not to give in to the pressures around him.You need to draw your lines now of what is right and wrong. Before temptations arise, decide on your commitments. Then when temptation comes, you will be ready to say "No" to temptation. The king could change Daniel's name, but not his character. It belongs to Jesus Christ!
