"I don't need you to worry for me cause I'm alright; I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home; I don't care what you say anymore, this is MY LIFE! Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone." So sang Billy Joel a number of years go. Can you identify with such sentiment? Do these lyrics well characterize the way in which you or I deal with others, with parents, with leaders in the church, with those at school or our places of employment who are placed in authority over us? Does such defiance carry over even into our relationship with God? Well, dear friends, the Sacred Scriptures tell us that such things ought not to be! In fact, on the contrary, as we turn to the study of our text as recorded for us in Titus 2:11-14, we find ourelves being both confronted and challenged by the fact that all those who, by God's grace through faith in the Name of Jesus, correctly claim to be a Christian must eagerly and earnestly pray every day, "Our Father, who art in heaven ... not 'my will' ... but Thy Will Be Done"! Now, let us consider together how we can ever more faithfully be found very personally and practically applying the key principles contained in this Third Petition of the Lord's Prayer.
