As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we too are called to 'hate' our wives and our children, that our love for Christ Himself might be unsurpassed. Abraham shines as a brilliant light and example of one who hated the son whom he loved. For though Abraham loved his son, he feared his God even more. So it must be with us.
