Due to their repeated irreverence in relation to their celebration of the Lord’s Supper, in the words of our text for today we find the Holy Spirit inspired Apostle Paul demanding that the Christians at Corinth examine themselves before partaking of the Sacrament of Holy Communion lest they continue to subject themselves to the chastening discipline and just judgment of the Lord our God! And oh, my dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, whenever we, too, look forward to our own celeb ration of that same Sacrament, lest we, too become improper partakers as did those Corinthians Christians some 2000 years ago, by God’s grace and mercy, both individually and corporately, we must both hear and heed what the Apostle Paul has to say concerning The Seriousness of Self-Examination!
