In thinking about what I should say to you at this time, I want to begin by saying that it is good for us to think about the meaning of life and death and the eternity that awaits us all. It is my intention to set forth the truth of the Bible which I pray will bring help and comfort to you if you will believe it. Today we want to give thanks to God for the life that He gave to Virgil Haas. We want to remind ourselves today of the goodness and mercy of God our Maker. For He is the only One who can bring comfort and encouragement to us at a time like this. God would have us all to live by faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. So, in this message I want us to think about God's wisdom in His words to us here through Solomon. That wisdom, which is God's wisdom, will teach us, first of all, that it is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting. And then, second, it will teach us the truth that our heart can actually be made better by a sad countenance. I will weave in things about Virgil as I present this message to you.
