Romans 13:11-14 is a gospel bugle call to wake up to the extreme importance of the season of Christian experience we now occupy. The passage is incontrovertibly addressed to those who are regenerate believers. To wake out of sleep is to become keenly responsive to and aware of gospel realities in the church, in broader society. Many Christians are frankly spiritually asleep. Many Christians frankly do not know what time it is and have actually "lost their better minds". I used object lessons in this sermon. I brought pajamas,a robe, slippers, blankets, and a flashlight. I proposed by way of illustration what our church members would think if they invited me to lunch and I came to their house with pajamas, slippers, a robe, blankets and so forth. They would conclude that either I did not know what time it is, or else I had lost my mind. The most awakened believers need to awake still more.
