In Daniel 6 we find Daniel cast into a Lion’s Den.
Daniel is faithfully serving the government of the Medes and Persians but there are those that want him dead.
Now in Daniel chapter 6, Daniel refuses to obey the edict of the King and under the threat of death he maintains a great testimony.
I think in our society we have those same three temptations that Daniel and his friends had when difficulties came.
a. When things become difficult, there is the temptation to become distant from God. When things are difficult we may begin to wrongly doubt God’s power and God’s care and love for us.
b. Secondly I think one of the greatest temptations for us to is to show hostility or even hatred to those that may persecute or cause great difficulties for us in life. Rom 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
c. Thirdly I think one of our greatest temptations for the Christian today is to just fit in with our Babylonian society, even if it compromises our faith. There is the constant temptation to just go along with the crowd.
There is the temptation to compromise rather than having conflict.
As you read through the book of Daniel you find that Daniel had a testimony that reflected many godly attitudes . In Daniel we see godliness, thankfulness, prayer fullness, courage, conviction, concern, bravery, wisdom, discernment, submission and love for his enemies.
Daniel’s testimony and words show us a man that knew God’s character in an intimate way, and we find that an abiding trust in the Lord was displayed in numerous ways throughout his life.
