Envy is something we would say applies to some one else. But if we were to be honest we go through it a great deal. Thus the need to overthrow, cause the down fall of, envy. Church folk go through it and need to get passed it, even the Apostle Paul had to admit his short coming here. The discontentment that the enemy sows is powerful; we don’t have to give in though. Paul gives this admonition against this awful thing to help us overthrow envy so that it doesn’t cause our strength to decay. Envy can bring anger with it as well. There is an answer to envy; it is the truth. Confess it all to God, humble ourselves, and God will send rescue. We can overthrow envy but we must come to God to truly do it.
