Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for IT is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am The LORD that doth sanctify you (Exodus 31:13).

Clarification on Observing the Sabbath Today Regarding the comment, "If the sabbath day is observed, it must be observed in such a way as to include all four of these things," here is how I teach on those points:
1. "... must be observed on Saturday." Although somewhat correct, it should be clarified that the Sabbath actually begins at sundown on Friday night and ends at sundown on Saturday night.
2. "No work can be done on the sabbath." Although technically correct, there are actually 39 categories of "work" that can not be done on the Sabbath according to Jewish tradition. This comes from the Oral Law, which is necessary to understand the fine points of each commandment [not just the 10 commandments but all 613 in the Pentateuch that Jews follow]. These 39 categories are believed to be all the types of work it took to construct the portable "temple."
3. "Any genuine observance of the sabbath day necessitates a return to the ceremonial law of the Old Testament." Correct to a point, in my opinion. The sacrifices in Jerusalem at the Temple were duties of the priests. However, individuals throughout Israel, even the diaspora today, still had to observe the stipulations of the Sabbath. Therefore, even without a Temple, individuals can observe the Sabbath.
Not enough space for the 4th comment on death penalty.
