Over the last two nights, we have discussed the Creation of the World. It is a glorious thought to know that God made this world to be inhabited and enjoyed by mankind. From mountain peaks to the streams in the valleys, from fertile fields to oceans filled with fish, this planet has everything that mankind needs to live and survive on this earth from a natural perspective. However, as we learned last night due to the Corruption of Man the creation is under the curse and unable to reach its original potential. The creation is groaning and in pain longing for the full redemption of mankind. This would be impossible without a Redeemer. Tonight, I desire that our focus be on the One which creation both visible and invisible was looking to. God had given an ancient prophecy that a Redeemer was coming to bruise the head of the Old Serpent and be bruised in His heal. Galatians 4:4-5 says, “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” A man-child would be born who could once for all provide a solution for sin and death in order to save sinners. This person would be the greatest news for all of creation. We have covered the highlights of creation. Now, let’s consider God’s Story: The Cross. Often people wear crosses on shirts, rings, necklaces, and bracelets. People talk about the cross, but do they really understand The Cross. Let’s read from Matthew 27:32-54. We want to consider 1) The Meaning of the Cross 2) The Man Upon the Cross. |
