Being exposed to the truth of God’s Word is one of the greatest privileges in the world. Knowing God would the only thing which would be a greater blessing than hearing the Word proclaimed. Therefore, the salvation of a sinner is invaluable. The Bible describes God’s act of saving sinners in many ways. Jonah 2:9 says, “Salvation is of the LORD.” As Moses and the children of Israel had passed through the blood of Passover and were stranded before the Red Sea, he exclaimed, “Stand still and see the salvation of the LORD”(Exodus 14:13). The Apostle Paul would say, “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began (2 Tim. 1:9),” and “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).” Jesus would say, “You must be born again” (John 3:3,7), “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44),” and he told his disciples, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you (John 15:16).” Today, it is my prayer that we understand that God is big, grace is more than amazing, and man is small, and the redeemed are loved with a love that wider than the universe, is deeper than the oceans, higher than the mountains, and is longer than time. The title today will be Salvation: Plain and Simple. |
