Time. What we do with time is a great indicator of the things we love the most? Much like money, it is being spent or invested every single day. We all have 24 hours a day and 168 hours a week. This cycle of time is measured in a day by the rotation of the earth, by the month based on moon phases, and by the year based on the rotation around the sun. If the day, month, and year were ordered by God, how did the week get established? From the beginning of Creation, the week was ordained by God. It stretches from Sunday through Saturday and is repeated week after week. When 52 are measured, we consider it a year. This cycle has been maintained since the beginning of Creation. With all this time on our hands, the Lord gave us a good and wise way to organize it around His purposes and His activities. From the first week of creation, the LORD God set the pattern of 6 days of work and 1 day of rest. This pattern proceeded the law of God handed down to Moses, and we would do well to consider God’s pattern in busyness of our lives. In particular, I want to bring before you what the early church considered as the Christian Sabbath or the Lord’s day.
