Lord's Day 38 does not at first appear to address the concept of the Lord's Day as it is given in the 4th commandment. No list is given regarding the proper things to do on Sunday. The Heidelberg Catechism steers us away from this legalism. Instead it focuses on the core meaning of the 4th commandment. It leave us, as mature Christians, as free to worship our Heavenly Father. We consider then what is the purpose of the Lord's Day so that we can properly observe and glorify God in doing so.
