This is part one of our study into Paul's discussion of the Godly virtues of singleness and of his warnings about sexual purity. We live in a culture that want's to pacify the people and compromise absolute positions of bedrock truth so that the world will love us, and accept us, there are books out just in the past few days that tell us we "must accept Homosexual Sodomite Christians into Christianity." The polygamy groups are foaming at the mouth at the chance to bring in their filth as well. Isn't it about time we stop compromising Biblical Truth? The Pharisee's had done enough compromise for a thousand lifetimes, and I for one don't plan on following in their footsteps. They came to Jesus and they knew that half of the crowd believed in no fault divorce, the other half believed that God decreed divorce, so either way they knew that the crowd would hate Jesus when He spoke truth. The Pharisees taught the people they must be married because God said "Be fruitful and multiply," and so it was for everyone. The Pharisees would actually teach you could not go to heaven if you did not have your own wife. They would also teach that wives could not get to heaven if they did not have children. It was believed that it was a curse not to have children. Sarah and Rachel and many of the Old Testament wives that didn't have children were broken hearted and would cry out to God about not having children, and they would see it as a punishment upon them. Jesus condemned them all and left them exposed, He showed everyone that the Pharisees were false teachers and they wanted to be seen as religious and strictly following set traditions but in truth they were against God.
