On this Father's Day I want us to study a passage that speaks to fathers. In Ephesians 6:1-4 we find an exhortation to children and fathers. I don't plan on preaching a father's day message every year, or a mother's day message every year. Last year I did preach a mother's day message from Proverbs 31. And just last week I decided that we would break from our 1 Timothy study in order to look at this passage in Ephesians 6 this morning so that we can consider the role of fathers. Next Sunday Ed Ridge, who is a missionary in Brazil, is going to be preaching. Then we'll continue in 1 Timothy the following week. First, we'll look at the exhortation to children in verses 1-3, then the exhortation to fathers in verse 4. Then I'll close with an exhortation to all of us to hope in God our Father.
