Dearly beloved congregation of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible consistently teaches a connection between how you act and how you're treated. The greatest example of this, of course, is none other than our Lord Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself to point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, says Paul, God highly exalted and gave Him the name above every name, and so on and so forth. There is a logical relationship here whereby Christ's faithfulness entails God's reward to Him. Jesus received the reward because He was obedient. Well, that connection between how you act and how God reacts to you is obvious in our text this morning. Solomon presents us with a list of the rewards that come to the one who fears God. Remember, all of these rewards have been given and are being given in an ultimate sense to the Lord Jesus. He has them all because He deserves them all. But we too are called to be wise sons like He is, and when we are, these are the rewards we too will receive. So first of all, admire the Savior you see in these verses. And then resolve that by the power of the Holy Spirit accessed by prayer you too will live as the wise son who makes the Father glad.
